Why intro E-85 if the cost is more than gas?Maybe a cheaper and more ecological sound way is a better solution

I mean come on who wants to pay more for something that’s all ready too high(fuel for your vehicle)!!! I understand that it’s good for the environment but ,lets be real most of us are living pay check to pay check as it is.Even if the price of gas goes down E-85 will still be up there.Make sense to you it sure doesn’t to me.What ever happened to methane, electric or even hydrogen. Maybe the best solution would be an electric/steam engine would be best with the electric helping to produce the steam with of course water.20 gallons at 160 lbs.(water)doesn’t weigh much and theoretically that 20 gallons could get you 500 miles. With the steam being force feed by a turbine or some other device.the steam would be made the same way your electric hot water heater makes the water hot and produces steam maybe some thought should go to this?!

its not about the money its about global warming. As of now there is no more ecologically sound way and the price will go down eventually as the technology becomes more widespread.

The price is high because people pay it. They are stupid, they think they are helping the environment! What a joke… did you know they use fossil fuels (oil & natural gas) in making E-85. And then you have to use more because it doesn’t make the power of gasoline.

If you look at the new flex fuel vehicles built, the window sticker shows mileage for gas & E-85. The E-85 gets about 3-6 MPG less than Gasoline.

What idiot thinks that is a good deal… so now the pollutants are up because the amount of fuel is up…

I think we should all keep putting gas in the car and drive. Back in 1975 we were all going to freeze to death because of Global Cooling.

Now that it is hotter we are all going to burn to death. And now it is due to the amount of gas used. Well I know the cars of the 70′s were a hell of alot more poltuing than the cars of today, so maybe the lack of pollutants are causing the global warming JOKE!!!

How arrogant are we to assume we have the power to change the climate!!! We are nothing but small little humans…

WE NEED TO GET OVER OURSELFS AND MOVE ON WITH LIFE!!!!

Three reasons: one, it can help reduce our dependence on foreign oil; two, it does reduce carbon dioxide emissions; and three, there is an incredibly large corn industry here in the United States. I’m not a fan of E85 either, but it is something the oil companies can get their fingers into to package and sell, and unlike hydrogen, there are already vehicles that can run on E85 on the road. It’s more a question of pragmatism and politics than what is necessarily the ideal technology.

You did the first step already ( thinking) . More BTUs in diesel than gas . Diesel engines last longer than gasoline engines . Bio-diesel seems more reasonable to me ( some automobiles are already running on cooking oil ) . Diesel engines are more efficient burning at a rate of nearly 50% , Where gasoline engines at best are 8 to 12% efficient. Do some research . I hope I gave you a good answer . Oh, additionally alcohol (the E part of E-85) has even fewer BTUs than gasoline .

Creating alcohol from agricultural crops uses more energy than it creates. This is purely a political scam to give money to giant agribusiness conglomerates. Millions of tax dollars are being given to these people and millions of tax dollars are being put into plants to make the alcohol. In ten years all of that money will have been wasted. We should create a national program using the level of money and resources we used to get to the moon and solve the nuclear fusion technology. It may take up to 50 years, but it will solve the energy problem. By the way, that is the only way to solve the mid-east wars too.

For the same reason people pay more for water out of a plastic bottle when they could just turn the tap.
