Why Aren’t We Using Water For Fuel?

I have seen water burn with either salt water or AA or AAA battery soaked water and a match. We have such an abundance of water why are we not using it as fuel?

We don’t get enough energy out of water to compensate for the energy we need to put in to get it ready.
The only way to do this efficiently would be to use fusion (the reaction fueling the Sun), but that’s a bit too hot.

basically what youre burning there is the battery chemicals suspended in the water. The water’s just a medium for holding it. Burning batteries is not the best way to get energy out of them. Its not very environmental either.
Water is a low energy molecule you wont get much out of breaking the bonds in it.

we used to, but it had to be heated up and made into water vapour (aka the steem engine) but water dosent give off the amount of energy that we need of everyday life. petrol is just alot more reactive and gives off more energy.
