what is the main cause for a small block chevy v8 to use more gas?

i have put a new cam , lifters, push rods oil rings, new distribitor cap,rotary button , plug wires, and plugs .
along with new head gaskets ,oil pan gaskets,timing chain cover gaskets,valve cover gaskets,intake manifold gaskets water pump gaskets…….
trying to figure out why my small block chevy 267 v8 115 hp using alot of gas put a forth tank in and run it maby 1 mile down to road to see how it run , and it been runing in drive way off and on while working on it and it back on e now from friday to sunday most it been run any ideas on what to check for ? and i dont think i have a fuel leak…..
distribitor is hei timing is set at 6 degrees before top dead center on timing had it around 8 but whe back it down. and the 267 was only made for a few years think between 79 through 82 i think…

might not be using as much as you think.fill it up drive it and see.nothing you’ve said would cause it to do so.

idling uses the most fuel. look at the timing and the air filter. timing has to be set with the vacuum advance disconnected and that hose plugged.

You get better gas mileage on freeway at 55 mph stop and go and city driving consumes more gas. there is no such thing as a 267 cu in chev and with a cam you want to burn less gas. 265 chev v8 yes.

Maybe you need the mixture screws adjusted so it has the proper air to fuel ratio.

Sometimes the timing just needs adjusting.

Might just need a tune up, new wires and spark plugs.
