What do you think will happen to muscle cars?

With gas going for over $1.30 a Liter in most parts do you think that SUVs, Muscle cars and big trucks will be the thing of the past?

Some people say that even if gas was $2 a Liter it still wont stop some people to drive their gas guzzlers.

I personally think that there should be a way to convert any car you love that has low gas mileage with a hydrogen engine or something similar.

Think this is possible in the not so distant future?

I think when the engineers get used to making them, electric cars are going to be phenomenally fast. 100% torque at 0 RPM, incredible RPM capabilities. 50,000 RPM motors will be nothing very special. They just need to get the battery thing together which will happen.

Well as an owner of a 69 big block Chevelle for 40 years, if gas goes to $5. a gal, I got the money!

I feel Muscle Cars will be no longer affordable as a middle to upper-middle class car; if gas prices continue to sky-rocket then the Muscle car will be in the Hummer to Mercedes Benz class. rich people like muscle cars too. Im sure companies won’t stop making them , theres too much history behind the Mustang, the Charger, the Camaro, a legacy so to speak. But they’ll mainly concentrate on mass producing cheap little commuter cars like the prius and base model civics, theyll keep getting their money on quantity sold relying on the high gas prices. Maybe if they rediculously lowered the cost of the muscle car to attract buyers the impact of gasoline woudln’t be so scary for some. If mpg were all the same, every make, evey model, would you drive a tricked-out Charger or a hubcapped-prius? People drive what they drive because thats what they can afford, gas-guzzler or not. anyways, thats a cool idea on the whole hydrogen thing too, i’ve got nice car in mind for one of those swaps .

I heard this very same question back in 1975 when gas jumped to $0.89 cents a gallon. They’ll survive…
