Think you’ll be driving a gasoline powered car in 2016?
I believe gas cars will be relics in 10 years. I’m rooting for hydrogen, or as in “Back to the Future”, the Fusion powered car, but that’s way down the road, IMO.

Yes. My three collector-cars are fuelled by gasoline. I’ll still be driving them in 2016. You may be right, though, everyday cars, if we’re still permitted to have them, may well be hydrogen powered.

I drive a toyota prius now and we will still be driving them until 2016.
but there will be more choices of what type of fuel to use….

I’ll be driving a gas car, but I’ll be sharing the road with electrics. Fuel cells are coming thing . Things generally change slower than we want them to.

Yes. I only drive cars that are almost fully depreciated. So, I usually drive cars that are between 7-9yrs old. They are still new enough to be reliable but old enough to be CHEAP!!! So…In 2016 I will probably driving a 2007 Ford Focus Wagon that I picked up in 2014 for about $2500.00! However, by 2026 I will have a larger variety of fuels to pick from with vehicles, but no matter what the fuel of choice is it will still be powered by an internal combustion engine. My best guess is that it will be powered by Gasoline and have a tiny engine with a Turbo AND a Supercharger like VW is playing with. Gasoline is the easiest and most practical fuel for autos on the planet. We WILL find ways to be more efficient with it, but we are not going to quit using it anytime soon. Great Question!

Look back ten years and see what the difference is. Ten years is a blink of an eye. The 2016 Models will hit the drawing board in 2010 at the latest. That means the technology would have to change in the next four years. Not likely. I would say that the best bet for alternate fuels is blends of methanol or ethanol with gasoline, and the continued development of Hybrid technology.

Does it really matter? Who saids that we will be around in 2016? We are not even promised to make it to work on Monday or better yet we are not promised to make it fully though our weekend., We all could die before 2016.. With the signs of problems in the world like the Java earthquakes shows how much the rapture is coming!!!

When I finally retire my gas guzzling, gross polluting, 79 Ford truck, I could see myself driving a nice used VW Jetta TDI, running on biodiesel, of course. I would also consider an all-electric car if the battery tech. is improved enough by then.
