There’s water in my exhaust… ’01 Ford P71.?

Recently started my 2001 Ford Crown Victoria P71 and noticed a gargling/bubbling sound coming from both (true dual exhaust) exhaust pipes. Was discharging some water droplets, noting more than normal. That was until I revved the engine, then “enough water to fill a cup” came out as a friend had said. What does this mean? I also have an issue with a rattling sound coming from one of the pipes, or so it seems, whenever I give it a little gas (in or out of gear) applying break pressure at a complete stop and/or going around turns at about five miles per hour. Could this water potentially be the reason for the sound too?

Is it really cold where you live? And did this happen after the car had been sitting for more than a few hours, especially overnight? Water tends to build-up in the exhaust system after the car has been sitting for awhile in cold weather and when it’s ran the water’s pushed out, it’s normal.

The rattle could just be something simple like a loose bolt or something missing that holds the exhaust system to the car. Best to jack the car up and take a look. Family members Corolla does the same thing, I’ve just been too lazy to jack it up and find whatever is causing the rattle.

The sound is probably caused of the gums holding the exhaust being a bit loose and the water is a normal thing. It is simply condensation. (well at least what i would guess off of your description. You might also have some cooling/radiator leackage – but i doubt and i cant see how it could come into your exhaust system. So no worries. Ant for the rattling sound, go under the car and check where the exhaust pipes are fitted loose. you could either find that your exhaust has a small rust hole which can be welded cheaply or just some as i said loose gums that are holding it.
Good luck!

If your starting the car from cold it might be water condensing in the cold exhaust . Water is one of the product that is produced from the combustion process .(plus a few other things) . After a good run ( the exhaust hot , etc ) it stays in a gas state .
