What’s wrong with my truck?

I have a 1999 Ford Expedition and it has finally given me some major issues. It started about 2 months ago and what happened was it would have a really hard time starting up. I live in Ohio and I assumed it was just the cold. Well about a month ago when I backed out of my parking spot and took off and it tend to jerk a bit and it seemed like the truck shut off for a bit but then it turned on. I asked my dad and he said it may have been water in the gas tank and it got into the engine for a bit but he said I should buy the thing that mixes the water and gas together. Well it helped for a quick bit but yesterday it was bad. Now the truck shuts off on the turns, mainly right turns when I go to take off. I don’t even have to put a lot of gas while making the turn. Finally today it just shut off while taking off at all. I don’t know what is wrong with it. Yesterday the gauges and everything tend to go crazy whenever I hit a bump. Everything would shut off then go as far as it could go then go back down to the actual reading. For example when I hit a bump the odometer went all the way to the 120mph and stayed there for about 3 seconds then went down the actual speed. This happened with everything though with the oil reading and the reading for how hot the truck was. I am thinking it is something electrical but I am not sure. What is wrong with my truck? How much am I looking at to get it fixed? Thanks.

My 1999 pontiac sunfire won’t start unless I press on the gas. Any idea of what’s going on?

I just bought this car yesterday, today being February 29, 2008. Already I’m having, what I’m hoping, are mild problems. The pipes in the back have some sort of black substance in them. I don’t know anything about cars. My boyfriend picked it out for me since he knows a whole lot more about cars than I do. Yesterday the odometoer read 141,000 miles. This morning I drove the car to work and it read 888888 for a short period of time, then it jumped back to 141,000. And we also noticed that the back pipes were leaking water. Is this good or bad? Will someone please tell me what’s going on with this crazy car!

Taurus suddenly dies while driving, but starts right back up again. What’s going on?

I have a ’07 Ford Taurus, 6 cylinder. About a month ago, while driving it home from work, the engine suddenly–and I do mean suddenly!–died right on the road. The car lost power without any warning, all the engine lights came on, the steering wheel locked up, and even with putting the car in neutral I didn’t have enough time to coast all the way over to the shoulder of the road.

I turned the engine key to the off position, and then tried to start the engine up again. It worked right away (no stalling or hesitation), and I was able to drive the car as normal..until today The same exact thing happened, and the car started back immediately.

What’s wrong with my scooter???

OK so I went on a trip for about a week and then came back to find that my scooter wouldn’t start. I, having no mechanical knowledge brought a guy over who replaced the spark plug and after a few times got it started. So I drove it around for a while and then came home and left it alone for about 3 hours. I came back to start it again and it was doing the same thing – not starting. The guy I brought over said that he thought water got in the gas and that’s why it wasn’t firing. I tried burning any water off of it but it still won’t start. Anybody know what’s wrong and how to fix it?

What’s wrong with my gas mileage (1998 Dodge Neon)?

I’ve had the car for a year…. Earlier this summer the Water pump went out, taking the timing belt and 16 valves with it. I had everything replaced, and when I got the car back it became evident that my car went from getting 70 miles per quarter tank to about 40 to 50. The Check engine light came on a few times, and I found it to be the EGR valve (but I looked under the hood and a few vacuum lines were undone, so i reaffixed them). The check engine light went off after doing that. What could be causing my Gas to drop 20 to 30 miles per quarter (80 to 120 mile per tank)?

Whats the difference between a marine engine and one that has coolant.?

I intend to rebuild a in line six cylinder diesel with mechanical fuel injection. Rather than paying that ridicules price for a new one. And its intended for marine purpose. But the only difference I know is that the exhaust manifold has water running threw it so the boat/engine doesn’t burn up.

Is their any thing else that takes to make a marine engine ?
It is intended that the engine will be inhaling both fresh and salt water. From time to time.

Gas in spark plugs, what’s the cause and how to fix?

Yesterday i was driving at about 75mph when a pretty big hose in my cooling system bursted, and the antifreeze just evaporated as it came out of under the hood. I kept driving (construction zone) for about a minute or two until i found a shoulder to pull over at, as soon as i started to pull over my car died. I touched the radiator and it was cool, i could touch it without getting burned, so i did a quick fix with some electrical tape on the hose and filled up the antifreeze tank with 2 gallons of water, that was part of the problem but the thing that i need help with is that, the engine would not start! So i got it towed to my house. So the engine cranks over and feels like its gonna start but doesnt, so i checked it and took out the spark plugs, turns out they are wet with gas and there is gas at the bottom of the hole where they go, i can see the gas with a flashlight. I tried to push it out by starting the car with no spark plugs but the gas keeps comming. So that’s my question, what caused that and how can i fix it? The hose that bursted was really close to the spark plugs. I drive a 99 pontiac sunfire coupe automatic v4 2.2L. It’s also very similar to the chevy cavalier. I waited about 45 mins before adding more water, the engine was not hot
The oil is at its normal color, the hose that bursted would be the upper i guess, right in front of the whole engine and close to the spark plugs, and i touched behind the radiator right in front of the fan.
The liquid under the spark plugs does smell a lot like gas so im assuming. Also, the engine block was not very hot when it died happened.
My spark plugs are about 10k miles/7 months old.

90hp merc O/B-keeps dying out in the water, & prime collapses whats going on?

every time i take the boat out the same thing happens engine boggs down and dies, and the prime is collapes, i undo the gas line and prime pops up and the engine starts to work again for a min. I have to keep undoing the gas line to make it work. friend said it was the thunderbolt ignition?

97 Honda Civic leaking water, and coolant, but not overheating. What’s wrong? PLEASE HELP!!?

I have a 97 Honda Civic that I bought used in May, since the second day I’ve had this car, I’ve had problems.
I had to replace the transmission, the timing belt, the crankshaft front seal, the camshaft seal, the valve cover gasket set, water pump, timing belt idler, and fuel filter, and that was just the 2 days after buying it. My car started to overheat 7/21, it was a leak in the hose. It was spraying radiator fluid all over the inside of my car.
This time, we were driving home and it didn’t seem to be doing anything fishy, we parked and it started to spray steam out under the hood. It was just water though. We filled it up, drove around and it started to do it again after a little while of driving. We parked it again and watched under the hood, it was hot, but the fan meant to cool the engine wasn’t moving at all, we checked the fuse, and it was not working so we put a new one in. We drove around for 30 min, and it wasn’t getting hot, we went up hills, drove fast, and slow. Everything seemed to be fine, we parked, and heard dripping, looked under the car, and it was leaking anti-freeze. The next morning, my boyfriend filled it with water, and said it looked like it was leaking, and then filled it with anti-freeze too. Drove to work, but no overheating. Is there a leak maybe? Is there a reason it would be leaking, but not overheating? I just don’t want anymore problems with this car. I can’t afford to sell it, but I can’t afford to put any more money in to it. It was originally supposed to be $4,999. But we’ve ended up spending more like $8,000.

Sometimes, my car just dies under acceleration. Whats up?

Sometimes when I’m driving my car, it just dies when I accelerate, like from a stop at a light. Other times,it loses power and stutters and then picks back up. It rides fine on the highway though. The car was in tip top shape until a few weeks ago, when someone thought it would be funny to put a couple of gallons of water in my fuel tank. Of course when this happened, my car didn’t run. I opened up the fuel line at the filter and drained most of the tank. I know for a fact that a considerable amount of water has gone through the fuel system. I changed the filter, so I know that isn’t an issue. Is it possible though that the fuel pump or injectors were damaged? I’ve been running water remover in the fuel but not injector cleaner. Also, the car is a 95 Lincoln Mark VIII with a 32 DOHC V8 with 70K miles. I replaced the TPS, IAC, plugs and wires in the past year, so the car was in tip top shape. I always run 93 octane in it. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? The car is not safe.
