NOW THAT THE WEATHER HAS CHANGED, MY CAR WILL RUN HOT NOW. WHEN I’M DRIVING OTHERS OFTEN SAY THEY SMELL GAS. THEN IF I DRIVING DISTANCE OF OVER 30 MILES, MY CAR WILL SHUT DOWN. FIRST IT WILL START WHEN I COME TO A STOP, AS I GIVE IT GAS, IT BARELY GOES ANYWHERE, THN IT JERKS UNTIL IT GOES A LITTLE DISTANCE, THN IT CUTS OFF. AT THAT POINT I WILL HEAR A SUCTION SOUND, AS IF LIQUIDS WHERE BEING OVERHEATED, UNDERNEATH MY CAR. SOMETIMES IT CONTINUES ON AND THN A COUPLE OF FT LATER…IT DOES THE SAME THING. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO 2 REPAIR SHOP FOR FIXING. ONE PLACE PUT MY CAR ON A MACHINE AND SAID IT WAS MY HORMONICAL BALANCE, IN WHICH HE FIXED…THE OTHER SAID IT WAS MY WATER BELT, IN WHICH HE FIXED. AND NOW AGAIN THAT IT’S WARMER WEATHER, MY CAR DOES IT AGAIN. IN THE WINTER TIME, I HAVE NO PROBLEM, BUT JUST AS SOON AS THE WARMER WEATHER COMES, IT SEEMS LIKE IT’S OVERHEATING TOO FAST. WHICH IS CAUSING MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON NOW. IM A FEMALE AND I REALLY DON’T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. TRUSTING THESE MECHANICS GETS ME NOWHERE. I NEED HELP. VEHICLE INFORMATION: 94 BUICK LESABRE THANKS!

In the past 6 months I have had a problem with my 2004 CRV cutting off when in stop & go traffic. It does not occur all the time under these driving conditions. I have been able to restart the car, but recently, I had to be pushed off the road and sat for about 10minutes before it started again. First took it into the dealer about 6 months ago, and was told they could not “recreate” the problem, maybe I got some water in my gas tank. If anyone has had a similar problem, what was the outcome?

I have a 2000 Ford Focus and I am having problems with it……every time I come to a complete stop like at a stop sign or red light or something it starts to idle really bad then cuts off and the engine lights come on but when i crank it back up it drives fine and the engine light goes off. I took to a mechanic and the timing belt and water pump was replaced, fuel filter replaced, and new wires, had the oil changed and it is STILL DOING THE SAME THING!!!! I am so aggrevated. My uncle who is sort of a shade tree mechanic, mainly works on way way older cars, but has his own shop worked on it for three weeks and it completely has him stomped. I took it to autozone that ran a diagnostic on it and said I needed to add some Octane boost to the gas tank and upgrade for a while to a better fuel…tried that didnt work either and they also said something about an Oxygen Sensor…(O-2 plug/sensor) I have not tried the O-2 yet but I hate to waste more money if that isnt the problem…i’m just trying to save money by not going to dealer any one has any ideas?

OK so last week our car wouldn’t start. My husband put in some dry gas, charged it and got it running. We even bought a brand new battery. But it won’t stay running. Now today he put more dry gas in and some regular gas (even though we had 1/2 tank) He thought water got into the gas tank because the cap was left off. Well he got the car up & running really good. I got in to put it into reverse and test drive it and immediately when I put my foot on the brake it just stopped running.

Every time I come to a stop or start my truck in the frigid cold (in the negatives for it to do it), it shakes and spudders like it’s about to stall out on me. I usually have to give it some gas to prevent it from dying.
I don’t know whether it could be a clogged fuel filter, bad fuel injector, water in the lines, clogged air filter…etc…
PS: I have a 98 Ford Explorer Sport

Why my 00 Durango 5.9 with 107k,miles riding for minutes or hours on a trip mostly highways speed at 60 mph or more when I stop for explames to get gas or something . When I started back up the water temp gages increase not all the way to the hot zone and I can feel vibration the fan is always on it have coolant , What is causing this problem any suggest? Oh When I driving on the road the water gages stay in the normal areas this only happen when I go and start up the engine again!
The water temp gages increase for a minutes or so also the vibration , Then it go back to normal.

I have a car that we changed the water pump and alternator/air conditioning belt on. Now when I crank it it goes thump thump thump like its going to stop running at first. If I give it gas it sounds fine except the belt starts squeaking. After a few seconds it acts fine. It only does this when its first cranked and if its been itting for more than about 10 minutes since it was last cranked. When the water pump was changed it was very hard to get to. We had to take off the air filter, timing belt, Airconditoner belt. Im really sure the timing is right cause it drives really good. I was just wondering what could be causing this and how to fix it. Also how do I get the belt to quit squeaking? Thanks for your answers.

Ok, here’s the problem. I have an 85 F150… It has a V8 2 barrel carb, 5.8L engine. When it gets hot outside, (and even at night when driven enough) it vapor locks. I have had a new head gasket installed, a new radiator, new water pump, new gas cap, and new fuel line. (The old one was metal, I cut it, put a new rubber fuel line on, and even insulated and re-routed the fuel line.) I also installed a new thermostat, (160 degrees), and even tried running it with the thermostat out. Still vapor locks. Also the thing over heats…. I”m not sure what the problem could be… I know I have two problems, a vapor lock, and an over heating issue, but me and my mechanic are at our wits end… If anyone can shed some light on this situation, I’d really appreciate it… Thanks for everybody’s time….
Bill, I think the timing may be off a little… I will have my friend check that as well…Also, I thought vapor locking is caused by the fuel boiling in the lines… All the fuel lines are insulated by thick foam, and also in a rubber line. My mechanic seems to think that I need a new plate on the bottom of the carb… Or something like that he was mentioning…

Hi,
I drive a 00′ Honda passport. Car has been running perfect. I got gas one night about two weeks ago. Car wants to die when idleing, or when accelerating from a stop. Stutters and jumps. I first put in some gas treatment. HEET.For water problems. I then replaced the spark plugs. I went to auto zone, run diagnostic test. Came back something to do with Cyldr 3 and 4. Man told me It dosnt know they are in the car.

92 Cavieler. 4 cyl. Now i have a few problems with this car but the main problem i have been having has been on and off for a few years, but frequent lately. When I drive it for more than 15 min, or when i come fast off the interestate to a stop or slow down, my car begins to rattle when (its an automatic) begins to slow/down shift, and usually when i get to 0-5mph it will die out on me. now sometimes i can go to 2, or 1 gear when i slow down and it wont die, but once it dies, it will start up, but when i shift to Drive, it dies out again. ususally takes about 30min of waiting before i can drive it again.
also worth noting the 2nd problem is fuel is not getting to car when it rains, so i believe water is getting in fuel system somwhere, line, injector, pump, i dont really know but from my experience i need to pump the gas like crazy for it to start when it rains. but once it drys up it starts normal.
