Should I have my transmission rebuilt or replaced. It has been narrowed down to the tranny. When in idle, it makes a grinding noise and when I hit the gas between shifting it makes a grinding noise also. My clutch was recently replaced (professionally and works great) as with the timing belt and water pump (which hadnt been done in quite some time). Now, I have a manual transmission which has been on this car for 150,000 miles (65,000 with me). Well I want to know which is better rebuilt or replaced and or what is worth it. I have been told that its cheaper to get a used replacement but its better to have it rebuilt? Ideas? What is price I can expect for rebuilding it or replacing it. I know labor is a pain in the you know what but what is the best method I should go with.

I mean I am afraid he speaks spanish. But he has been there for a few hours, his hood was propped up, and he has the door open. Its a 2004ish Lexus Es, not sure would could be the matter. Ran out of gas, disoriented? Should I help him out? Give him water or something
I am afraid that he will not understand me, or have someone on the way
Turns out it was something with the battery, he took the water bottle. His grandson was bringing a new one.

I had a mechanic look at my car after it died on me on the freeway. He brought a camera to look inside. He said it depends on the parts for my Ford Focus 2002. I know I can save money if I go to the junk yard and get the stuff myself from another car. How much would you charge?

First of all, I have a 1989 Toyota Cressida and I live in southern California.
I’m creating a maintenance checklist for myself, but I need some help doing so.
I’m going to list a bunch of car maintenance items. Please tell me how often and how I should “perform” or “check” each task (every X miles or X months/years or whichever comes first… or however you best describe it).
Feel free to modify the list. Add, remove, rearrange items (from highest priority to lowest etc), or put into categories the way you think it would be a more convenient.

I have a 1994 Dodge intrepid, and I make no payments on it, all i pay for it is insurance and gas. I am a high school student making $7 an hour and i hardly get 15 hours a week, when i try and push every shift for an extra hour or so.. Every shift I try to stay as late as possible, and im always picking up shifts for co-workers, and with all that work, I still only end up with at most $230 for two weeks. I pay for my own basic necessities (food, clothes, personal hygiene products, etc) while I am also trying to save money for a good laptop before I go to college, and I plan to move out of the house in about a year (by then I will get to work more since I wont be in school)
Until recently my intrepid has done what it needed to do.
here is what is wrong with my car
-extremely loose tie rods
-grommets missing
-in need of an alignment
-new fuses for my horn/radio
-new battery (corroded)
-new belts (they’re really badly cracked & frayed)
-the brake fluid is at 100ppm when it is required to be at at at least 200ppm
-really really really really loose steering
-has been over 50,000 on the same shocks & struts
-exhaust system leaking
-engine fluid leaks
-slow leak in RF tire
-need two more tires (^^ including above)
My sister was the one that had the car before me, and didn’t do preventive maintenance on it at all, and only changed the oil when it absolutely needed it, instead of after ever 3,000 miles.
The cost to replace the tie rods & get a new grommet would cost me $436.61 (mainly because of the time it would take to replace it)
That does NOT include the other replacements that are obviously needed. and.. clearly, i cannot afford this sort of maintenance until after about two months. I have a cell phone bill, insurance, and basic necessities to pay for first, so that is why it would take me that long (at the very least).. and i cant go without it, and I made an agreement with my parents that i would take care of everything myself aside from rent/gas/electric/water once I got a job, and I absolutely refuse to ask my parents to help, because I would have to pay them back, and I don’t know how long that would take me, and I hate the feeling of owing someone money, I have always been very good with paying people back because of that. I hate it! Also, Especially with how the economy is going, I want to be able to learn on my own how to deal with saving money without asking others for help, I want to do this on my own!

It’s a project truck and I’ve had the air breather off for a while and some rain water had gotten into the TBI and the gas pedal was pressed, causing some water to go into the intake. It’s not much but I heard a friend of mine say that it ruined his motor when he did that. It’s a 95 Silverado btw.

I have a white 96 328i auto that I got about a year and a half ago with just under 84k, now I have just under 100k. I paid $5,500 for it and so far I’ve done pads, rotors, 2 oil changes, had the fluid changed in the tranny and diff, and replaced the drivers side window regulator. Now I have a good size heater core leak, no heat because the thermostat is stuck open, I was backed into and need to replace the fender marker light and a few other parts, the window regulator needs to be done again, and some other odds and ends stuff.
