For my science project, i want to test gasoline content in lakewater after a boat passes over, when i get a sample, how can i determine an average percentage of gasoline in the water? What method should I use?
A friend of mine said that i should put a bandana in the sample, then squeeze the water out and determine how much gasoline remains in the bandana, because gasoline is denser than water, but I’m not entirely sure that would work.
Please, give me a reliable method that i could use to determine the water content or prove that the bandana method could work. Thank you.
