…the first thing I thought of was the obvious one, a bad coolant temperature sensor, but I checked the codes, and no code is set for that. All fluid levels are fine and not contaminated. I do have a short somewhere in the car, as I have a code that says I have a short in my alternator field wiring, I think that is unrelated, but I’m not positive. My dome light blew out (I know that was a short somewhere, I don’t know where), and my wipers only work in the fully on position, but other than that, no problems with electrical. It acts exactly like a bad coolant temp sensor, but like I said, no code set for that (and the wires to it also look normal). Only stumbles and runs poorly for a couple minutes, until it warms up, then it’s fine. Note: I’ve already changed the fuel filter. Possiblility: bad tank of gas; or water in gas??? How about a thermostat stuck open??? I’m stumped. Any ideas?
50 hp Yamaha motor boat (1996). Something is shutting down the carburetor. New, thermostat,water pump,fuel pump,fuel lines, fuel/water seperator (4 within year).
I have a 1988 chapparral 235 XLC.With a 350motor, omc cobra outdrive. I have replaced water fuel separator, the fuel filter in the rodchester quadrojet 4 barrel carb, the mechanical fuel pump, water pump in outdrive! So I start my boat in water fires right up. Then u can run it wide open or just sit there and let it idle! Either way temp hits 135-140 deg. couple min later it cuts out! I know its fuel cause i can put fuel in carb and it will fire right up and run the fuel out then die! After boat sits for a while it will start right up and run no prob! ????? please help guys thanks Rick
Thanks for the info!! Why would the boat run fine on the muffs for a hour? and why would it run fine in water till the temp rises to operating temp? Also when i unscrew the water fuel separator there is a lot of suction? should i try a portable fuel tank? Sorry if questions are stupid its my first boat! wifes haunting me and i know the problem is simple boat just runs too good when its running!!
i have taken the cap off where u put fuel in the boat, there was no pressure! and the boat still died! I also took line off where it is pulled into the water fuel separator out of the fuel tank i could not blow into line but i could pull fuel out! ??
Bought car of someone and didnt know it sat till i got the bill of sale with a date from 2 months ago. So i figure its been sitting for awhile. also it needed a new cam sensor so i put it in but it spudders so i added 5 gallons of new gas from the pump and a few bottles of fuel injector cleaner and dry gas to get any water out.
Stale gas?
Plugged injectors? (doubt it since it runs nice while driving)
how come all the other car companies won’t make them and put in more of those gas stations to fuel the car? Also, how come the only car Honda make for the U.S. that runs of water, is only available in California for lease for only like 4 months?
My 2001 Celica GT runs great. Everytime I refuel however it stalls. If I keep the rpm’s up for a couple of minutes it will be fine again. The lower the gas level is when I refuel, the worse it stalls. I have tried fuel injector cleaner in the gas and also that stuff that dries up the water in your gas tank and neither works. It never did this before and I just returned from a year overseas and it was in storage that year but I had someone start it up at least once a month while I was there. What could be the problem?

THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS NOT STOPPED UP, NO WATER, OIL OR FUEL LEAKS, COMPRESSION TEST HOLDS STRONG,,.,.,DRIVING IN TOWN THE TEMP. RUNS 195.,.,DRIVING ON INTERSTATE TEMP. RUNS 210+.,.,AFTER RUNNING ON INTERSTATE ,YOU STOP AND IDLE FOR 5 MIN’S. TEMP. GOES IN THE RED..,AND WHEN YOU TAKE OFF TOO COOL IT DOWN, IT’S WEAK AND SLOW GETTING UP TO SPEED (30/40MPH). ..,.GO BACK ON CITY STREETS AND TEMP. Could this be water in the gas or a fuel filter, or worse!!
some water comes out but not alot. The sound is like it is gasping for fuel maybe kinda like the engine is losing power ‘putt putt putt’
