8 months ago we replaced the fuel pump to a 94 Dodge Caravan for the second time. Sometime during the fall, it overheated on 2 hour trip, and we found out the radiator, water pump, and thermostat had gone bad. After the winter, we replaced them all, fixed the timing on the motor, which had slipped when it overheated, and tried to start it. The problem is now the engine turns over, but it doesn’t start. We listened, and the fuel pump doesn’t sound like it’s kicking on. We believe that the engine is getting a small amount of fuel, but that there is not the amount of required pressure to keep the engine running. We’ve checked the coil, it was cracked in 3 places, however we replaced it, still no help.

Need to know what else it could be. or maybe if i have a faulty thermostat. btw just put in a brand new thermostat and its a pain to replace on this car. also put in a new water pump. my car still over heats and it shoots coolant out of the coolant overflow tank/over flow hose. I dont think there is anything else i need to replace. only time it over heats is when im idling for at a stop light and when i give it gas it shoots out heat in my car. but when im not giving it gas the heat doesnt work in my car and it starts to overheat as well. may have to take it to a mechanic but ive always worked on this vehicle and ive never had a problem like this even after replacing stuff.

Less than 24hours later after the overflow valve was replaced because water was coming out everywhere, the pilot light is now out. I have tried to relight it, turn off gas then light, it does light but a very very small flame, i hold it down for over a minute, then it just goes out…it doesn’t ignite the tank. do i need them back again? it seems like not enough gas is coming through, and the gas is turned on. thanks
thanks for you advice everyone, the gas is turned on it is parallel and is open for gas to come through. It is also extremely hard to clean as it’s right near a tree and it’s right at the bottom i can hardly even fit my torch light in there. I think it might be something simple but i’m going to have to get them to come over. thanks

My ’06 camry 4cylinder with 66K miles has been making a slight rumblings noise since Sunday. Leaving work today, I thought the car was going to die because the noise was very loud and persisted as I pressed on the gas. I had to go on the freeway and stayed to the right for fear that something would happen. It was weird but at some points on the freeway there was no noise at all and I could pick up speed to reach home. As I was getting an oil change yesterday, the technician stated that it sounds like a problem with my water pump bearings. The noise is coming from the area that has a belt spinning.

Should I have my transmission rebuilt or replaced. It has been narrowed down to the tranny. When in idle, it makes a grinding noise and when I hit the gas between shifting it makes a grinding noise also. My clutch was recently replaced (professionally and works great) as with the timing belt and water pump (which hadnt been done in quite some time). Now, I have a manual transmission which has been on this car for 150,000 miles (65,000 with me). Well I want to know which is better rebuilt or replaced and or what is worth it. I have been told that its cheaper to get a used replacement but its better to have it rebuilt? Ideas? What is price I can expect for rebuilding it or replacing it. I know labor is a pain in the you know what but what is the best method I should go with.

We recently replaced our headgasket on our jeep. It ran fine for two days and now we have the white smoke and its misting/ not wanting to idle and tires to shut off. The oil is milky looking again and we were freaking out thinking the gasket blown again.
My dad told us that its because you have to clean out where the oil goes, that we have to do a couple oil changes.
He says to drain the oil ,put some diesal gas in where the oil goes, empty it again, change the filter and put new oil in and keep repeating until there is no longer water in the oil.

I have a 2003 Toyota Matrix with nearly 90,000 miles on it.
In Feb, I was on a road trip and happened to notice I was running low on gas. I had just hit a stretch where there were no gas stations and by the time I got to one, my check engine light was on and my 12 gallon tank took 13.08 gallons of gasoline.
I drove a few hundred miles with my CEL on before I figured I better get it checked. I went to Autozone and the guys said they thought the problem was probably with my fuel system, maybe an O2 sensor or something. I told them about nearly running out of gas and they that might have been it so they reset the CEL.
