Engine skipping bad!! Please help!!?

I have a 2000 chevy tracker 2.0L 4 cly. I have a ticking in the engine that has started fairly recently. It is in the very front of the engine. I brought it to a mechanic 2 days ago and he dropped the oil pan and moved something to see if it was the timing chain- it isn’t the timing chain according to him. He says it is the lifters. Anyways, yesterday I was driving it and it just started skipping and jerking REALLY BAD. I had to pull over. It even skips when it is in Park. It’s like it’s trying to stall, but it doesn’t. The jerking is so bad it feels like something is going to fall out from under the car. The weird thing is that it starts right up, but it starts skipping as soon as you start it. The last thing we replaced in the car were the spark plugs- this was about a month ago and it was before the engine started ticking. I don’t think it is water in the gas because I haven’t filled my tank in about a week and I’ve been driving it everyday- except for when it was in the shop. I still have a 1/2 tank of gas in it. I’ve never had a car skip that bad because of water in the gas- It was really bad. I drove it that morning and it was running great. Any ideas? Please I really do need the help. I’ve taken it to three mechanics already for the ticking and have heard three things that could be wrong with it. I’m kind of hesitant to bring it to another mechanic with this problem before I have an idea of what could be wrong first. Thank You in advance.
I’ve been told that the ticking- not the skipping- could be the lifters or the timing chain. I just didn’t know if a bad timing chain could cause this new problem or if it is a completely different problem.

HUGE car problems, Please help!?

My dad says I have water in the gas…but idk.
When I turn the car on it makes a funny noise, like someone knocking on a door.
My dad told me to buy gas treatment and put in it, then just let it run, so I did that, let it run for about 5 minutes, then black smoke started coming out the back pipe of my car.
Does water being in your gas tank make this happen?!
How can I get the water out, I can’t really drive my car no where, cause when I do, the check engine light starts blinking, then the car dies, Please help!!

i have a 95 chevy s10 wanna fix it myself, need advice please?

ok so i have as i said a 95 Chevy s10 pickup. i was driving it and it started to act like it was out of fuel and died on me, i turned it back on and it idles fine but when i rev the engine it will get up to 2500 rpms, then it dies. ive drained the fuel tank to check for water, replaced the fuel injectors, replaced the spark plugs and the wires. any one know what else i could do to get it running?

when i drive my 88 ford tarus it runs fine (started four days ago) now everytime i drive it for about tens minutes and cut it off white smoke seems to come out behind the engine, i have plenty of anti-freeze i recently got an oil change and a flush because the inside was dirty(the guy also recommended i get a transmission flush because that was dirty, but i cant afford one right now) i have plenty of power steering and transmission fluid, and i dont know whats wrong it jus seems to over heat and produce white some only from behind the engine it doesnt come out the tail pipe, the tail pipe doesnt smell sweet my oil on the stick isnt bubblly or milky, the oil cap doesnt have a white ring around it, so i dont know if i blew a head or wat, do i need a new fuel filter? because i heard i could have water in my fuel lines i have no idea. anyone? thanks

My “Service Engine Soon” light is on. What should I do? Please read further for details.?

The car’s engine is “catching” and it doesn’t want to give me any juice when the light turns green, for example. I should call it the Puttermobile. Someone at the auto parts store told me that he thought it was bad gas with water in it, and to just wait until I could get new gas in the tank. Yesterday, however, the service engine light came on. When I popped the hood, I saw the cap to the oil was off. My car leaks oil and it can get down pretty low and the light never comes on. What do you think the problem could be–that the cap was off (is now replaced), that got down to practically no oil right before this started, or still the possibility of bad gas? I know I need to take it to a mechanic, but no $$$ right now to do so. Thanks.

97 Honda Civic leaking water, and coolant, but not overheating. What’s wrong? PLEASE HELP!!?

I have a 97 Honda Civic that I bought used in May, since the second day I’ve had this car, I’ve had problems.
I had to replace the transmission, the timing belt, the crankshaft front seal, the camshaft seal, the valve cover gasket set, water pump, timing belt idler, and fuel filter, and that was just the 2 days after buying it. My car started to overheat 7/21, it was a leak in the hose. It was spraying radiator fluid all over the inside of my car.
This time, we were driving home and it didn’t seem to be doing anything fishy, we parked and it started to spray steam out under the hood. It was just water though. We filled it up, drove around and it started to do it again after a little while of driving. We parked it again and watched under the hood, it was hot, but the fan meant to cool the engine wasn’t moving at all, we checked the fuse, and it was not working so we put a new one in. We drove around for 30 min, and it wasn’t getting hot, we went up hills, drove fast, and slow. Everything seemed to be fine, we parked, and heard dripping, looked under the car, and it was leaking anti-freeze. The next morning, my boyfriend filled it with water, and said it looked like it was leaking, and then filled it with anti-freeze too. Drove to work, but no overheating. Is there a leak maybe? Is there a reason it would be leaking, but not overheating? I just don’t want anymore problems with this car. I can’t afford to sell it, but I can’t afford to put any more money in to it. It was originally supposed to be $4,999. But we’ve ended up spending more like $8,000.
