I wanted to know the benefits of using zinc over magnesium to produce hydrogen gas from hydrochloric acid. I have found out that zinc is more commonly used in large scale productions of hydrogen gas but not why it is used. All the information i have gathered is that the reaction between magnesium and hydrochloric acid takes a lot of time and that it is disadvantage when producing hydrogen gas. Any information is welcomed. Please and thank you.

car has been sitting up for a couple of months, but was starting fine. now it acts like it wants to start on first try but doesn’t fully catch on. after that motor just turns over. it has plenty of gas in the tank. before this it had problems running hot. i took loose the heater core hoses to check the flow and the distributor was sitting under the flow of water. could this be the problem?

I haven’t had this trouble with my 2002 Honda Civic before. It has 65K+ miles on it and it’s automatic trans. The other morning I went to start it and it wouldn’t turn over. It wasn’t dead, it cranked but just wouldn’t “catch.” It made a horrible grating sound, though. My aunt came down and just kept trying it and it finally started, but there was the odor of raw gas in the garage. It’s been fine since. A new battery was installed in February. What could cause this problem? I’ve been asking around and I wanted to get a consensus of opinion. So far I’ve been told – water in the fuel line, timing belt problem, engine flooded, or starting motor problem. Would a can of dry gas help? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Last night I went to the grocery store. I was in the store for about 15 minutes and came out and my car would not start. I’ve never had trouble starting it before.
I turn the key and it sounds like its about to start as normal, if I give it gas it will rev once then it just sputters and dies. I’ve ensured the car has gas, I’ve added some HEAT to make sure there is not any water in the fuel.
What else should I consider before I have it towed?

CCan I sue a gas station for mixing their gas with water and causing my car over 1800 in repairs? I had to take my car in this morning because it kept stalling and shaking. They told me the gasoline was mixed with water and damaged my car.

I accidentally drove my car through about 1ft of standing water in poor visability conditions (rainy night). The car floated for a bit until I gassed it to get myself out of the water. No water got inside the passenger compartment as far as I know. Then the car had a funny smokey smell and what looked like steam coming out from under the hood on my drive back to my house about 0.5 miles away. All electrical systems were still running when I parked it. But I’m worried. What should I do with the car now? Is it safe to drive? What might go wrong under such conditions?
My biggest fear is that water might have splashed into the engine. How would I know if that has happened?

On the expressway my 2003 Dodge Ram 2wd 4.7 liter over heated(into the red) I pull over to see the radiator is busted. I keep filling it with water to get it home. After I fill it with water temp goes back down then shortly later back up, however I did not let it get into the red again before i refilled with water. I had to drive approx 30 miles this way. About two miles from my house truck starts running rough.
I get home swap out the radiator, refilled with coolant. Then when I test drive still runs rough. I changed the belt cause it was squeeking,no change in running rough. Today I drove it and it started running really crappy and check engine light comes on. I take it by Auto Zone and get a p0300 code (random and multiple misfiring). I buy spark plugs and as i was changing them I noticed all the plugs on the right side were wet with a black fluid(I believe it was water or fuel cause it was too runny to be oil). All the ones on the left were dry. After changing truck ran really good for about 4 miles then starts again running really rough. Also one quick note, sometimes if I accelerate hard it doesnt kick down into gear it just accelerates slowly. ANy help is gratly appreciated!!

I wll explain: My Mechanic basicallly says “if it aint broke, dont fix it.” This applies, for him, to EVERYTHING. Water Pump, Fuel Pump, etc.. He says “Wait for it to develop a Problem, and if you have the money to do a test, replace the part, since you suspect it.” (This is also the one that put 1/3 the old BROWN Trans fluid back in my NEW 82,000 Trans, now at 90,000 miles.. I will Drain anD fill that with NEW and no Flushing.)
