Its an old tank, full of black grime, but not alot of rust. I tried shaking bolts inside with soap and water someone suggested to me, but this stuff wont budge.
Can I fill the tank with purpe power or simple green and just let it soak in the tank for awhile? Should I dilute it? Thanks!
how about if i just pour some carb cleaner inside, let it sit, and then rinse it out?
I have a 1976 Kawasaki KZ400D For the past week, I take off for class and get about 2 miles and my bike starts acting like it’s out of gas and slowly dies or seems like it just isn’t getting the gas it needs. I keep gas in it and have put a new fuel filter on (a clear glass one so I can see the fuel). It seems to get worse every day. I recently cleaned out the fuel tank to get some rust out of it, then put HEET in it to get rid of any water.
Yes I took out the mesh screen and cleaned it and still have the problem.
Well the thing is when I pull over after losing power, the fuel filters are completely empty except for maybe the one leading to the right carb, but usually they are both empty.
Well I did notice that when I took the tank off right after it quit that when I turned on the petcock valve it spewed out like it was pressurized, I’m assuming this is what you mean cause if it had air flow from somewhere else it wouldn’t build up pressure.
ive gotta 2009 suzuki, Fuel-injected and water cooled….with less than 2500 miles. What should, or shouldnt be done to it for the winter. It sits in a garage, which is unheated.
Bought a used suzuki katana 600 (gsx-f) 1998. Runs pretty good but needs some work (clutch and and oil leak).Over all im satisfied with the bike though.
Now onto the question- When i got the bike, it was a little loose on the cap, with the cap not securely going all the way down. Theres a little bit of play it in and u can push it when its locked. This is my first bike, and im pretty sure thats not how its supposed to be. I ended up washing my bike today, and it got water was in the seems around the tank, and some got in. Minimal but some. When i started her up to go for a ride, it started to bog and wouldnt pick up speed. after about 10 mins the water burned off in the oil tank and she finally got up and went. I can smell gas fumes when i stop and im not getting that good of gas mileage.
I have had so much trouble trying to get a working valve system for my 1978 Honda Hawk. Everything I’ve tried has leaked gasoline. The thread distance on the tank is a little off so when I try to attach a brass fitting to segue to the tubing, it leaks. I tried using JB water-weld around the fitting and it still leaks. The actual valve I tried was an all metal valve that would also leak.(see link) http://www.cashacme.com/prod_sharkbite_pex_chrome_stops.php
The previous owner let water get in the tank and there are rust spots in there and I now have a fuel filter on it but the imperfection is bothering me so i want to fix it somehow. Its a tank of a 1980 yamaha xs 400.
Thank you for looking!
i am getting ready to go out of town for like a month or maybe more; since the gas tank has water in it, i was thinking about getting all the gas out and just let the gas tank empty for the time i am going to be gone to see if it dries out.
can i do that? or will i mess the gas tank if i do that? any sugestions?
please!!
thanx in advanced!
hold on let me check.
OK, yup
Yahoo search for ” water fuel car ” braught up 12,200,000 matches in 0.22 seconds.
That’s twelve million two hundred thousand links – whole lotsa water car sites pages out there….
it still amazes me that it can get that in 0.22 seconds though, more than the number of links.
Another point of interest, my cousins husband has a car that runs on water…
It’s a replica of an old steam car from the early 1900′s.
Only goes 28 MPH or something but it only burns wood to heat up the water to steam.
May be the car of the past…and the future !
