I have a 1997 Ford Expedition 4×4 (4.6L) that I am having some hesitation issues with, particularly when I am climbing a grade or in stop and go traffic. I will be cruising up a hill at 60 and all of a sudden it will act as if it is starving for fuel or has water in the gas, hesitating and shaking a little. If I just let off the gas and then back on it goes away, or if I floor it it goes away. If I leave my foot on the accelerator in that same position the hesitation will go on for about 6 or 7 seconds, then it will be fine.

My Caravan is starting to hesitate sometimes while driving down the road. It does not happen all the time, but when it does it almost acts like there is water in the gas. After using DRY GAS it still has the same problem. When I purchased the van in February the previous owner disclosed that the fuel filter was brand new as well as the O2 sensor. The check engine light has been on for a little while now and I did not have any problems until today after I put in gas. After a few miles it quit hesitating and drove normally, then after sitting for about 4 hours it started to do the same thing as earlier this time without the hesitation stopping. Could I have bad gas? Do I need to unplug the battery to “reset” the computer? All places to start with this problem will help me before I have to sink in money that I don’t have. Should I start looking for other problems in other areas of the motor? It also acts like the transmission wants to slip, but the fluid is full and it never has acted up before. When the hesitation occurs it is followed by the tac jumping up in RPM’s.

i have a 1996 f350 powerstroke that i just bought when reving it, it will climb to 2500 rpm normaly then hesitate at 2500 rpm for about 3-4 seconds before slowly climbing to 3500rpm it used to only climb to 2000rpm so i changed the fuel filter and now hesitates at 2500 rpm, truck starts easy and blows only a little white smoke on start up then goes away but when it hesitates it blows alot of white smoke any ideas i was thinking maybe water in the fuel

ok so for the past few days while driving my 02 trans am I have noticed that I’d be stepping on the gas and all of a sudden i would feel a sudden loss of power, kind of like te car was chugging along for a bit, then the horsepower would kick in, also to add in within the last 2 months I’ve heard while idling, I’ve heard a rattling sound in the exhaust, now does anyone have any idea what this may be, because tonight while I was driving i had the same sudden loss in power, while driving i felt the power loss so i pushed the gas in harder and noticed that the car was still slowing down so i down shifted to 1st gear then stepped on the gas again and all of a sudden the power was back, does this sound like a case of gas that has too much water in it or could this be something much more serious.?
