I have changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter, and put water remover in gas tanks. The problem occurs on both fuel tanks. It runs perfect on cold engine for first 2 to 5 miles, so it appears to be heat related. The severe miss occurs at cruise speed, stop and go driving, and up hills, but will straighten out while under full throttle. It runs OK at idle initially, but after running it on the road and experiencing the severe miss, it struggles to run at idle for about 1 minute, then the RPM picks up to normal and it idles clean again. The Check Engine indicator is NOT lit. Looking for suggestions.

Ok, here’s the problem. I have an 85 F150… It has a V8 2 barrel carb, 5.8L engine. When it gets hot outside, (and even at night when driven enough) it vapor locks. I have had a new head gasket installed, a new radiator, new water pump, new gas cap, and new fuel line. (The old one was metal, I cut it, put a new rubber fuel line on, and even insulated and re-routed the fuel line.) I also installed a new thermostat, (160 degrees), and even tried running it with the thermostat out. Still vapor locks. Also the thing over heats…. I”m not sure what the problem could be… I know I have two problems, a vapor lock, and an over heating issue, but me and my mechanic are at our wits end… If anyone can shed some light on this situation, I’d really appreciate it… Thanks for everybody’s time….
Bill, I think the timing may be off a little… I will have my friend check that as well…Also, I thought vapor locking is caused by the fuel boiling in the lines… All the fuel lines are insulated by thick foam, and also in a rubber line. My mechanic seems to think that I need a new plate on the bottom of the carb… Or something like that he was mentioning…

It’s 8 Cylinder, was given to me a year ago and had sat in a yard for several years. I had to have a rebuilt transmission put in and alternator right after I got it. Recently it has been acting up, like once in awhile no matter how hard you press on the gas pedal, it will not accelerate ( so when it did this I had to shift to 2nd gear ( automatic transmission) But it only did this once in a blue moon. Now it sounds like it wants to start, in fact starts for a second but then just won’t. The spark plugs haven’t been changed in years. The battery is about a year old ( radio comes on, lights full force, etc.) The fuel filter was changed also after I got the truck because there was probably water in the gas line? Question can it be battery is too weak, can it be spark plugs, is it something in the fuel line and if so how do you get it out? I have a background in computers but as you can tell I am not bright when it comes to cars. I haven’t tried to jump the truck off yet.

So I have an 89 Ford F-150 with the 300ci engine. I was gone for about a year and let the truck sit. The body is in good condition and no known mechanical issues before this issue it’s having now. The truck just randomly died on me while driving up to go camping. I threw some fuel cleaner in the gas tank and it drove fine. I think maybe the gas and the water in the gas might have seperated and caused the truck to stall but I’m not sure. It also may be the gas tank is gunked up but again just speculation. Any answers are appreciated.

i am going to put o2 sensor extenders on both trucks and i am going to use a hydrogen generator and a map sensor enhancement on both trucks. Thanks and don’t tell me its not possible, do your research hydrogen generators built from water for gas specs work 100%.
