what will using fuel injector cleaner do to an engine without fuel injection?

Thanks to a laspe in attention I grabbed fuel injector cleaner rather than fuel stabilizer and put it in my 97 Grand AM GT, which just so happens to lack fuel injection. After driving for twenty or so miles the engine overheated, shut off and began an obnoxious grinding and knocking noise. We got it home and assessed that the water pump had died and replaced it, we would have replaced the termostat too if that didn’t require removal of the carburetor. The grinding stopped after the replacement of the water pump but know the engine is knocking. Not a subtle knock either, a BITCHING BADASS knocking. Loud enough to annoy the neighbors. We tried CD-2 oil detergent, which helped a little bit, but the knocking still gets nearly unbearable at anything past 20 MPH. The duel filter needs replacing but we haven’t been able to do that due to some kind of damage to the current one. I’ve done a little research and what I can glean is that there’s either a lifter going to hell, or there’s something wrong with the ignition timings. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it. I need to know if I can drive it or not since I am a delivery driver and need to know if I need someone to cover me or not.

Will it ruin my motorcycles gas tank if I put carb cleaner in it?

I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ440, its my first bike…got it for cheap and running. I just had to clean the carbs cuz the bike was sitting for a long time and they were badly varnished. This didn’t keep the bike from running…it just ran akwardly cuz of it (random loss of power while adding throttle) Now…the carbs are clean and have some left over carb cleaner, and my buddy told me I should put it in the gas tank to clean it out. I don’t know if my buddy has any idea what he is talking about. I know a gas tank can get gunked up but I don’t think this is the way to clean it. Anyhoo…my thought is…carb cleaner is not called ‘gas tank cleaner’ and the directions say nothing about using it as such. I took off the petcock and cleaned that with water and an air hose, I emptied the fuel tank and there is nothing solid bouncing around inside it…should I even bother with carb cleaner or just put the bike back together and finally learn to ride?
Would I be able to see if the gas tank is rusty? When I open it up and look into it the whole inside looks very clean (as much as I can see) Absolutely no debris came out when I emptied the old gas out of it. The petcock was very clean…no gunk built up in the filter, I just rinsed it under water and blew it out with an air hose cuz I already had it off the tank.

Difference between fuel injector cleaner and gas treatment.?

To my understanding…Gas treatment evaporates water content from gasoline making for better mileage? Fuel injector just cleans off the grease buildup of the fuel injectors as it sprays out the gasoline? So this means the you’ll have to pour in a bottle of gas treatment for every tank of gas you filled?

Am i correct?

How to make Carburetor cleaner?

I am rebuilding a carb for my Camaro, and don’t want to buy a bucket of the carb soak just for one use, can anyone give me a “recipe” for carb cleaner? I tried the detergent and water boiling trick, but it didn’t work as well as I would have liked. id rather use solvents if possible. Also i have spray cans of carb cleaner, what if I got a gallon of gasoline then sprayed a few cans into that and used that as a soak… should that work?
I ended up cleaning it over a bucket of gasoline with chemtool so it ran into the bucket after, and am now soaking it in there. Surprisingly enough, gasoline contains a lot of the same ingredients as the chemtool
