With gas going for over $1.30 a Liter in most parts do you think that SUVs, Muscle cars and big trucks will be the thing of the past?
Some people say that even if gas was $2 a Liter it still wont stop some people to drive their gas guzzlers.
I personally think that there should be a way to convert any car you love that has low gas mileage with a hydrogen engine or something similar.
Think this is possible in the not so distant future?

Although we may have a problem with the rise of green house gases, are our cars the biggest problem we have as a contributor to that? I feel that the idea of electric cars is a step towards helping our problem, but have we put into consideration a)how much a car of this stamina would cost a consumer b) how much the price of electricity will increase with more people becoming dependent on these cars c) the long term effects that these “new” electric cars will have, not only on our population but on the economy d) repair and maintenance for these vehicles e) the price of production….etc. I’m sure you understand what I’m getting at. Although the economy looks promising, the people who are making it that way are your head haunchos at large firms, not the blue collar workers who have to WORK to make things run smoothly. I feel that no ordinary person would ever feel comfortable enough to purchase a car as one of these “proposed” electric/hydrogen/bio-degradable corn syrup cars.

I’ve heard that many technologies that reduce emissions involve so much required energy to produce them in the first place that there is actually more energy needed. Also, with the plug-in variety of cars, unless the energy comes from a nuclear or renewable source, nautral gas, oil, or coal are going to be required to charge those cars batteries.

I love cars. I’m all for green/hydrogen/electric/alternative fuel cars, and know that they will eventually take over gas powered cars in the future. My question is this: what will happen to all the great gas powered cars? I’m talking about 350 Chevy’s, V8 bmw’s, 3.2 liter porches, rear wheel drive muscle. Stored in museums? Increase or decrease in value? Will we still be able to drive these beasts in 10 or 20 years? What are your thoughts?

hovercraft are in existence being used by the military and for recreation. they are cheaper to build and buy, can be designed for one person or large as a bus. uses less gasoline than an automobile. no worry of potholes or hydroplaning or hitting small animals. you wont need to buy a car and a boat when a hovercraft will go straight from the street to the water. we are in the space age and still tethered to wheeled vehicles. let’s fly!
hovercraft and speed laws can be modified. i’ve seen the military craft flying down the gulf over 70mph.

I have heard about people who are building hydrogen injection kits for cars that inject hydrogen into your intake manifold. They are all promising a 25% to 50% increase in gas mileage with these systems. Has anybody here tried this? What kind of long term affects can I expect one of these kits to have on my engine?
