Iceland is now expermenting with water for fuel,Why can’t we?

As of today they have two buses running with this fuel.

I can’t stop my 85 F150 from Vapor Locking?

Ok, here’s the problem. I have an 85 F150… It has a V8 2 barrel carb, 5.8L engine. When it gets hot outside, (and even at night when driven enough) it vapor locks. I have had a new head gasket installed, a new radiator, new water pump, new gas cap, and new fuel line. (The old one was metal, I cut it, put a new rubber fuel line on, and even insulated and re-routed the fuel line.) I also installed a new thermostat, (160 degrees), and even tried running it with the thermostat out. Still vapor locks. Also the thing over heats…. I”m not sure what the problem could be… I know I have two problems, a vapor lock, and an over heating issue, but me and my mechanic are at our wits end… If anyone can shed some light on this situation, I’d really appreciate it… Thanks for everybody’s time….
Bill, I think the timing may be off a little… I will have my friend check that as well…Also, I thought vapor locking is caused by the fuel boiling in the lines… All the fuel lines are insulated by thick foam, and also in a rubber line. My mechanic seems to think that I need a new plate on the bottom of the carb… Or something like that he was mentioning…

95 ford escort Fails to start, but cranks, and has spark, and fuel as well, cant figure it out.?

I have a 95 Ford Escort LX, was driving along and it just did a coasting like engine kill, I popped the hood and there was coolant all over, not too bad but, probally like say 1/2 gal dispersed, that sprayed from the gasket seal area by the thermostat forward into the fan, and back towards into the engine compartment because the fan threw it back in this area.

Here’s what I looked at or checked, so we can go with a process of elimination………

Why does a car need gas to drive? Why can’t they find another gas or liquid to use to make a car go!?

I am 30 years old and Don’t quite get it. Not ignorant, went to school for law,not science. So people of yahoo, Why does a car need Gas to run, why not water and why can’t they use something else to make a car go so that we are not so reliant on one particular natural resource? Thanks in advance.
Wow, appleJuice, your one smart guy, I like the sound of all that knowledge. :) Great answer, I just wish they would look at the long one picture and not just the here and now.

My vehicle won’t start and I can’t afford to buy a new one. Someone please help.?

1987 F150 302 106000 miles. Truck did sit up for about 4-5 years without being started before I bought it. I have replaced the fuel pump, plugs, wires, dist cap, rotor, fuel lines, throttle body, air filter, fan, fan clutch, water pump, fuel pump relay, battery, solenoid, throttle position sensor, coolant sensor and it still had a problem. It would start immediately when I started it, but ran horrible, like the fule was clogged or something and it had a bad hesitation. When it warmed up, however, it ran perfect. Like a brand new engine. Now if the truck was stopped and I went in to get something from a store, it wouldn’t start and I would have to wait until it cooled off again to start it, now it won’t even start at all. I tried to push start it several times, but it didn’t do any good.
How do I check for a spark. I know some about a vehicle but not a whole lot please forgive me. I don’t know much about the ignition.

why can hydrogen cars can’t be in stock yet?

ford has hydrogen cars and they test drive it so it means that that now we could have a clean planet and i know that hybirds is cars that powered by batteris and gas

Why does my snowmobile keep shutting off after a short period of time? It will idle forever, but can’t run it.?

I have 2 1994/1995 ‘Ski Do Safari’ (something like 380cc approx.) that both have less than 200 miles on them. They have been garaged kept since I got them 2 years ago and were garage kept under the previous original owner. I am the second owner. I had the carbs cleaned/checked, flushed/cleaned gas tanks, fixed/changed any/all fuel lines. If they just IDLE then they will run until fuel runs out. But, if I give either one throttle for only a short period of time then they both will just shut off (as if there is a problem with fuel delivery, but everything is new, clean or in excellent working order, as far as I can tell). I can ride only a few laps around the property until they shut off. But once they do shut off, I can choke (prime) them a few times and give them less than 6 pulls and they both start right back up, run great for another short period of time then shut off again….and so on…. (also, once they shut off and I get them running again, they can still sit and idle for however long the fuel allows). They both have working oil injection systems, yet I even experimented with disconnecting the one and running actual mixed fuel in the one. Same problems, nothing different. Someone mentioned to me that the little box that the fuel goes into from fuel tank to carb, the box that is in-between the tank and carb, can hold water and cause problems. When the carbs were cleaned/checked, each sled’s “fuel box” (whatever they are called!) were also cleaned/checked. I only run premium gasoline in all of my toys/machines except the ones that specifically calls for regular unleaded fuel (i.e. my 2007 truck calls for regular, etc etc) but all chainsaws, small machinery, quads, snowmobiles and etc. all get 93 premium fuel. Another friend mentioned that ‘dry gas’ can actually help if the snowmobiles have water or a problem with water in the lines/tanks…but I wasn’t sure if this would hurt them so I only tried it in the one, but it did not do anything to help or hurt. The only snowmobile service center (mainly a sales center, not so much service) will not even look at them because they are Ski Do. I cannot drive to the next closest one and I know many people who are mechanically inclined yet they have not had a chance to check out these sleds. Maybe someone can give me an idea of what I can do or what I should do. Thanks for your time!!

“boost your mileage with water” I want to hear from the poor shmuk that it didn’t work for. Not it can’t work

HalleluYah!

I’ve heard a lot about these “water from fuel” or “boost your gas milage with water” and now I have a question;
Can all of you who tried these things give a report?
Yeah, yeah, I know according to thermodynamics it’s impossible. Here’s what I’m looking for and I’ll say it somewhat bluntly. I want to hear from the poor shlep who bought one of these things and it didn’t work. I searched some, but it seems that most of the claims aren’t gained by experience.

Thank you for your time!

We know water can be split into hydrogen and oxygen .So why cant we make a car to burn the split water?

Water = hydrogen + Oxygen .Why cant we make a system wherein the water is split and the resulting Gas can be used to burn as Fuel.the electricity for the splitting can be generated by a battery initially which can get charged as the vehicle is moving.

Why can’t America switch from gasoline to synthetic Bio-Diesel fuel?

Bio-Diesel works with no modiications to an existing diesel engine auto.
Bio-Diesel is AMERICAN made, and reduces our dependence on foreign supplies.
The market it now enjoys has saved the family farmer in America as it is made primarily from Soy.
You can use it full strength or in a blend with imported diesel.
It is better for your engine, as it burns cleaner; also better for the environment.
In a study in New England a Professor proposes making Bio-Diesel out of fast growing Alge, grown in seawater, and fed with sewage. The byproduct being clean water, and a way to replace the entire U.S. daily gasoline consumption.
There is no national leadership on this issue.
All autos should be diesel engines, and use this fuel.
Let us tell the Automakers, the Lawmakers, and the OPEC nations what to do with their Global warming gasoline
