One of the car engines being developed for the future is a car that will run on water as a fuel. Explain the process and the likelihood of development within the next 5 years.

I brought my car into a chrysler dealership because it was not running and i had a coolant leak. They got my car running and told me it would be around $1700. I am not sure exactly what they did. They then looked at the coolant system and replace the water pump and thermostat and some other things. They where also going to replace my front brake pads and rotors. Bringing the bill to roughly around $4000. Once the coolant system was fixed they told me my car will not run above and idle. They suggested flushing the fuel system and i believe the transmission. Which was another $130 they said they gave me a break on that. But they said if that didn’t fix the problem it might be the valve train i think. Anyway this seems quite a high price for doing engine work when i could have probable bought a rebuilt engine for the same price, My car has now been in the garage for about 2 weeks. Does anyone have any advice?

Engine rotates but will not fully start. Battery replaced. Gas tank is 1/3 full. Oil and water levels are good. I’m concerned that engine oil may have dried from pistons, and dont want to cause any damage. What should my next step be?

I have searched the net and so far, I have not found a product that will inhibit the corrosion caused by ethanol in gasoline. It has been known for a long time that ethanol causes corrosion in mild steel due to higher water content and acidic contaminants such as formic and acetic acid that can arise during processing (as well as oxidation of the fuel during storage). I asked my fuel supplier this question, and he told me that ethanol does not cause corrosion. I then read an article that was written in 1991 that details the problem and names products such as Shell ALCOOL (marketed in Brazil). I would think that the refiners would put rust inhibitors in the fuel(silly me!).

We have options……..we can use other fuels that don’t destroy the
planet we live on. Hydrogen can greatly increase gas mileage and other can have the same effect too.

Did you know that ethanol has only half the energy as gasoline? Meaning, you’ll have to buy twice as much ethanol to go the same distance on the half as much gasoline.
Ethanol is NOT the solution! I feel it will have disastrous environmental consequences. Could it be nothing more than attempt to direct revenues from the mid-east to American chemical manufacturers? You do realize that to grow corn you need fertilizers and pesticides that end up in our soil and our drinking water?

This question is regarding alternative fuel for cars. With gas prices being so high I thought this might be the next generation application to reduce gas prices. Any thoughts on this?

Does sulphuric acid dry the hydrogen gas?

and then go buy a bottle of water for 1.50…which in fact makes a gallon of that water 6-7 bucks? Or they buy a starbucks coffee and then complain about gas prices when in fact that coffee in the form of a gallon would be 20-30 dollars? This is lunacy and am i in the twilight zone?
