97 Sebring…The car ran fine when I parked it, but I neglected to start it up for probably about 6 months. It has 3/4 tank of gas, and DID sit through a winter. I’m assuming it may be water in the gas and plan on putting some dry gas in. What makes me wonder though…is the fact that it will run for 2 seconds, then just kind of “gas out”. Another crank (usually) yields nothing unless I disengage and re-engage the fuel pump. Is there any chance the fuel pump could have somehow went when the car wasn’t even being driven? Could this just be a symptom of water in the tank? Just to add…if this may be at all helpful…the car gets approx 2 seconds of run time after rekeying the fuel pump, no matter if im idling, or revving it. Then it just shuts off…no bogging, no stutter..its just like I turned the car off. I’m hoping no mechanical problems could have happened just from the car sitting there. REALLY REALLY hoping dry gas will take care of this problem, but I definitely am starting to get my doubts as it doesn’t seem to be doing anything. Feathering the gas got me about 10 seconds of near stalling but still allowed the car to run. What’s going on? Thanks

Okay…got a 93 nissan quest..
Im gonna replace the intake manifold gaskets (upper and lower)
I did ALL everything the haynes and other manuals say…
releive fuel pressure…drain coolant…disconect baterry…taje off hoses (vacuum, gas, water)…disconnect all harness attached to the manifold (tps, iac, ficv, egr etc..)…
unscrew the 5 allen bolts of the upper manifold…reverse of tightening sequence…
BUT when EVERYHTING is off…and when Im gonna “remove by hand” the upper manifold…its STUCK!!! ive tried to hit it with a rubberhammer…i dont want to pry on it cause im scared of damaging…

I’m considering buying a boat that’s been sitting for 10 years, there is stale gasoline in the tank. I figure I can take the gasoline to a local hazmat disposal place. After I empty it, what can I do to clean out the gas tank so it won’t get any gunk or water in the carb after I get it all cleaned out and get the boat running?

1. Seems like you could build an airship with a near zero stall speed and virtually all fuel could be used for cargo lift or locomotion. For lifting extremely heavy cargo short distances (like water for firefighting, or assembling a modular buildings), multi engines could all be thrusting downward.
2. It might be slower than a 747, but couldn’t a body contain a tremendous volume of lift gas and still be quite streamlined?
3. Would passengers opt for an environmentally sound, but slower form of transportation if it were more comfortable?
Thanks Airmech. That’s close. Excepr I don’t see that airship doing and actuah flying, at least not in the form of wing lift.
Thanks again Firefox. I am talking about an airship that has an onloaded weight about 90% less when filled with its lifting gas than when air filled. So stall speed is relevant.
Tough to convince me that downward thrust somehow produces overheating problems. Helicopters seem to function OK.
And Aero-science has finally evolved to the point that bumblebees can now theoretically fly .
Now if anyone can tell me why a trimaran-shaped airship of 3 rigid pressure envelopes, flat on the bottom and curved at the top like an airplane wing only fatter, and joined by two winglike structures fitted with 2 pairs of engine driven propellers cannot fly, please let me know.
The front engine/prop would face downward and only be used for take-offs, landings, and heavy lifting. The rear prop would swivel 110 degrees for upward or forward thrust.

Well, I’m an idiot. I’ve owned my car for a year, and for a year I’ve been using regular unleaded. Just yesterday I learned that with my engine type (v6 3 liter), I should’ve been using premium. Whoops.
I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant ES V6 with just about 200k miles. I had a tune up last week and did all of the preventative maintenance (water pump, timing belt, etc.), and my mechanic said my engine and tranny sounded and ran beautifully. I did notice about six months ago my check engine light came on, and when I got it checked out I found out it was for emissions (cat. converter, more than likely). Luckily my state doesn’t require emissions testing, so that should be fine until I can get it looked at.

Has the gas man who did my service turned something down or is it just because the weather is so cold? I had the water on for 5 hours and it was still not hot enough for a bath! Help!
My dial on the tank says 60 C thats hot isn’t it???? I don’t know whats wrong?

And hopefully specifications on its fuel consumption vs it’s horse power. And then of course pricing.

I’ve taken it to a couple of mechanics and each one said the fluids were fine, belts were nice and tight, exhaust was fine. A mechanic last night hooked it up to a fuel pressure monitor/gauge and found the pressure to be at 48. Normal for a 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo – 6 cylinders is 49 (+ or – 5) so it’s within normal ranges. He didn’t think it was the fuel pump. What else could it be? During the summer I filled up every 6 days or so, I’ve had to fill up twice this week. I’m so irritated…any ideas what the issue could be?

Its a 2004 Saturn L300 V.6 at first it wouldn’t start, then a day later it would , then about a week or so later it stopped all together, it would roll over but not engage and stay started. We replaced the fuel filter , the old one spilled out lots of junk. it started enough to make a trip then was dead again, rolled over but didn’t engage and go. So this time thinking its the Fuel Pump , we bleed the lines to make sure on the fuel filter that no air was in it, and tried to start it again and the fuel pump spit out gas, so not sure if its the pump now, and were back to the same conclusion on something ( maybe water) being put in my gas tank, i only have about a 1/4 tank of gas in the car right now, didn’t want to put in more until i know i won’t have to drop the tank down to have it cleaned or pump changed if that’s its again, its started twice since we bleed the filter, but now I have a “service engine light” on, anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks for the help, and if you need more info I’ll gladly pass more along.
Going to try dry gas today i was given that solution earlier today but was curious to water others thought as well, since im not positive stuff has been added to my tank, but my cars have been sabotaged already so i wouldn’t put it past them, plus i did buy a locking gas cap just in case also.

02 sensor is only a few months old

I need a cheap car that runs, but is also under $300. I want to try and convert this car into a hydrogen/gas hybrid, but I don’t want to nulify my car’s warrenty.
