I drive a 97 Nissan Skyline. A few days ago, my car was very close to overheating. I drove it to the nearest gas station the next day and filled the radiator with a whole bottle of antifreeze. On my way to work, which is only a few miles down the road, the temp gage was back in the red zone. I noticed antifreeze leaking from underneath the car. I looked at it and the fluid was coming from the underneath side of my water pump. I took it in and had it replaced. I just got the car back today. I drove it from work to home (4miles) and i parked it for 8 hrs. Then i went to pick up a few friends and drove it around for about 20minutes and the temp gage is in the red again. I got it home and opened the hood. The upper radiator hose looked like it was falling off. i tightened the clamp, but it doesn’t stay on very well, even though it is tight. i am wondering if that could be the only cause for this to be happening. There is plenty of antifreeze left in the car.
okay, i was just checking it out. i have plenty of antifreeze in the overfill tank, but when i had the car on, with the radiator cap off, i didn’t see any fluid going through. does that mean there isn’t any antifreeze in the radiator at all?

I have a 4 stroke Kawasaki jet ski that’s a 2008. We put it on the lake yesterday And the day before for the first time in a year. The first day it worked perfect, the only thing was when you let off the gas after about 30 seconds the engine would shut itself off as if you had pressed the stop button. Now the next day we ran it to empty on gas and stopped at a marina to fill it up. I shut it off to fill it and then when I turned it back on and tried to push the start button the engjne would turn over but it wouldn’t start. We took it out of the water on the trailer and tried to start it and it fired right up. We drove it to another launch spot to give it some time to drain possibly and launched it where it was working perfect, minus the fact that as soon as you let off the gas the engine dies immediately. We thought maybe it was battery trouble but we had a brand new battery put in a week ago. Any thoughts???

i fueled up my car and drove home. its about 2-3 miles from the gas station. i got home and realized i had left my gas cap and everything wide open. it was raining. not pouring but just a light rain. do you think some water got in there? if so, would there be any damage to my engine? HELP
oh and btw dont think im stupid or anything for doing this. i completely forgot because i had to go in and pay this time. i’ve never done this before!

…the first thing I thought of was the obvious one, a bad coolant temperature sensor, but I checked the codes, and no code is set for that. All fluid levels are fine and not contaminated. I do have a short somewhere in the car, as I have a code that says I have a short in my alternator field wiring, I think that is unrelated, but I’m not positive. My dome light blew out (I know that was a short somewhere, I don’t know where), and my wipers only work in the fully on position, but other than that, no problems with electrical. It acts exactly like a bad coolant temp sensor, but like I said, no code set for that (and the wires to it also look normal). Only stumbles and runs poorly for a couple minutes, until it warms up, then it’s fine. Note: I’ve already changed the fuel filter. Possiblility: bad tank of gas; or water in gas??? How about a thermostat stuck open??? I’m stumped. Any ideas?

I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 4.0 L, Straight 6 cylinder. My car has been having alternating charging problems for about the last week. The gauge on the dashboard says its charging at about 12v, but I thought it was a grounding issue that I had in the past So I redid the connection coming off my battery, grounding out on my car and then it was still doing it so I realized that I messed up the other end when fixing it so I redid the connection of the ground cable to my battery. But again it was still not fixed, checked my fuses and the #3 fuse either 7.5 or 15 was blown, replaced but didn’t think it was causing the issue. I was charging my car at night and then not using my lights or radio so I knew I would be pretty much fine if it was still charging at 12 v. But I guess about two weeks ago I needed to get me car inspected, the owner said I need to do some gas cleaner so I would pass inspection, so I used Sea Foam, 8 oz in the gas tank, 4 in the oil, and 4 in the throttle body. After that I kind of noticed like a sound when I first turned my car off either my oil dropping but really it sounded like it came from the top of my head and/or valve cover like maybe my valve or rockers were moving and tapping or something. Just like 5 times for like 20 – 30 seconds after I shut off my car. So yesterday I ran out of gas, tried to shake my car bc i was on a tilt and tried to restart, went and put a gallon of gas in and kept trying to restart it but then it started sounding funny, so I stopped bc I thought about my battery and my filter being clogged and it just not being enough gas. So I came back with 2 more gallons and I tried jumping it, still no and it still sounded bad, i only tried it like twice. So I went home and charged my battery bc my cables aren’t that good and I don”t know if the grounding issue or alternating issue was causing the charge from the jump to not be so great How do you use the body of your car or something to use as a ground when you are jumping your car? So the battery fully charged, at least it said it was close to full, and I went back This time I replaced my fuel filter because I thought the SeaFoam cleaning my tank could of stopped it up. I also checked my fuses and the same fuse had blown again and now that I think about it my radio was stolen and the wires touching were giving me problems so I clipped them all and then separated them and let them hang out so I knewweren’twerent touching. But I have to say I have a hottie riding with me so I cleaned up the old car and threw those wires back in the back, so they are probably touching now which is blowing the fuse and causing the alternator(grounding) charging issue. I need to look up what that fuse is up to? Hopefully my radio and is causing the problem. But I upped the fuse from a 7.5 to 10 or 15 to 20. Not to mention I got gas in my ear changing out the fuel filter, I thought hey ill open my gas tank if thedoesn’tdoesnt stop coming out, which caused my brain and inside of my head to fell like it was on fire. Hopefully y’all will learn from my mistake and really be careful from this from now on. I sat there pouring water in both my ears and in my nose and all over me for like 30 minutes before it stopped burning. Off the subject. But I tried to start it and it was still doing the ringing sound and I had somebody else try while I listened and it did not sound like the car was turning or trying to start it was making a loud screeching sound or loud ringing sound, like something is stuck and causing the engine not to turn. I was done and went home. Ok sSea foameafoam in the oil liquefies the old oil residue, and says you should change it at 30 miles or 100 miles at the Sea FoameaFoam in the gas lubricates, dries water, cleans gum & varnish, cleans carbon deposits, and stabilizes. Then I also did 4 oz down in my throttle body which I guess concentrates more on the combustion area and the fuel injectors Somey’allg yall should know thaven’thavent done a legitimate oil change in about a year, I have been adding oil and changing my oil filter though. So….. What do you think is a matter? What steps should I take to fix it? I am really just worried about getting it started, Ill fix the charging problem later. I was thinking I should first go and cut all of my radio wires so there is no copper showing and use electric tape to tape up the ends of the important ones like the power and ground and such and just all of them so I know it cant be causing a problem. Then do a oil change and run a couple extra quarts through to get everything out. I know not changing my oil for this long is the most stupidest thing I could of done and I just hope my motor did not freeze up. I will not be able to make to work and etc. the aren’t arent the greatest. OK, Sorry it is so much but I wanted to fully describe what was going you’ll youll could properly diagnose the problem. Thank you so much for the hel
Oh, yes and my Check engine light has been on but hasn’t had any caused any problems. Then also my abs light came on just the other day sometime around when I noticed the alternator not charging correctly. Also a day before I noticed the car not charging correctly when I first got in the cab my car would make a ticking sound, it sounded like it was coming from the right side of the dash, I also hear my turn signal coming from over there. But im not sure if it is that is what is causing the clicking sound I am hearing. But I think the clicking sound and the alternator problem started at the same time I just didn’t notice the charging problem right away.
While my car has been broke down plus I wasn’t driving it for over half the year that is why it has been receiving poor maintanance but also because I haven’t put that many miles on it. No the battery is strong and when it cranks it cranks. There is no lose of power, in fact I was just making sure of that myself that is why I was jumping it. I really didnt think it needed a jump but I just wanted to make sure that wasn’t the problem. The oil thing sounds more correct to me. Where should I go with that? Oil Change?

Twice now I have tried to start my 96 after it has sat outside in a rainstorm. The fuel pump works, I have a new fuel regulater. The ingnition system is fairly new. The first time the car failed to start the starter would turn fine, lots of juice from the battery. The engine would turn over but would not fire. I had the car towed to the closest Chev dealer. I had tried to start the car so much that they had to charge the battery over night. They found no error codes. Since the battery was in the end days I got a new Interstate 75 mo battery.

I’m a 22 foot C.C. with a 225 Merc. newer model, I’v changed the lower case oil and it seemed ok. the one day out on the water several hours trolling , i started my way back home and thats when she’d only go about 10 mph full throttel with with about 2500 rpm. after shutting the engine off several times it finally kicked back in and I was able to resume regular speed. any Ideas? I’m thinking throttel cabel, lower case problems, clogged fuel line.

I had a 1994 Chevy Corsica which has been sitting at my father’s house since July of 06. I bought a new car at the time because the Corsica needed a new head gasket, and I did not want to pay for the repair. Recently, I sold the car to a lady at my work. I told her what was wrong with the car back then, and also that it had been sitting for almost 3 years so I didn’t know if anything else is wrong. She had her mechanic come look and he told her it just needed a head gasket and maybe some seals, so she bought it from me (has not paid in full yet). Now her mechanic is telling her the fuel pump and water pump need replaced from sitting so long. I told my boyfriend this, and he said working parts don’t usually go bad just from sitting. Could the mechanic be trying to get more out of her? I really dont want her to change her mind about the car, because I don’t want it back! Is it possible that the parts went bad from sitting?
i agree, its her fault not mine, but I’m afraid she either won’t pay the rest of the money to me or it will cause a lot of tension at work. Thats a whole other issue. i feel its her fault for buying it. she was telling me about the problems this morning and said “i’ll let you know what i’m going to do.” I think, why is she going to “let me know”? its her car, I don’t care what she does with it because she bought it. I know we work together, but I didnt do anything wrong. I don’t want her to hold it against me that she made a bad deal. she owes me $200 more on the car

Ok, here is the details leading up to my problem. I have been working on my truck “1989 ford f150 5.0 5 speed” for the last couple of days replacing my timing chain gasket. I replaced it and put my old water pump back on, I started my truck it ran for a min or two then stopped. Then I noticed my water pump was now leaking. I went and bought a new one and replaced it. It fixed that problem. Now My truck wont start, it will turn over fine. I thought I was out of gas, so i bought $5 in gas and put it in my truck. That didn’t work, so i think its not firing or something like that or maybe i have unplugged something in the process of replacing the pump and didn’t replug it, I have checked my fuses under my dash, they all where good. I have included all the details leading up to it not starting. If anyone can tell me what to check or what to do to find out where my problem is coming from i would greatly appreciate it. Tomorrow is my last day i will get to work on it for a while so i hope i get every thing fixed thanks.
Ok, update on problem. I went outside and took a plug out. I grounded it out and turned the key. after about 2 rotations it started sparking then it started briefly. I replaced my plug and went to restart my truck. It started for about 3 seconds, it ran really rough then died, and wouldnt start again. My battery went dead. so i will try again tomorrow.
