Most cars manufactured have their engines cooled with water and an engine coolant added to increase the boiling point of water if not prevent water from boiling. Pools holding spent fuel rods that are cooled with water for 5 to ten years may benefit from this idea. Evaporation of water from boiling creates steam polluted with radioactive materials harmful to humans & all living things. Hopefully there is no interaction or chemical reaction between water & the engine coolant added as a result…

When solid sodium is added to liquid water, it reacts with the water to produce hydrogen gas and aqueous sodium hydroxide.Write a balanced chemical equation for this reaction.

The combustion of gasoline produces carbon dioxide and water. Assume gasoline to be pure octane (C8H18) and calculate the mass (in kg) of carbon dioxide that is added to the atmosphere per 2.9 kg of octane burned. Balanced equation for octane: 2C8H18 + 25O2 -> 16CO2 + 18H2O.

My car is not starting and i believe it could be due to water in the fuel tank. what ratio of water in a tank would cause this problem? the car ran after i filled it up, and drove home. The next morning the car wouldn’t start.
I think it might be water because the car is only 5 years old and everything else is working fine. i checked the battery, and the spark plugs are good.
I also filled up at a mom and pops gas station.

I let my car sit for 1 day without starting it and it fired right up but struggled and died then i fired it up again and it was struggling but it stayed running and eventually it started to idle normally does this sound like the fuel lines were frozen? I added a bottle of iso heet in my near full tank is that ok? iso heet says it Absorbs 5 times more water than regular gas-line antifreeze. Cleans fuel injectors and carburetors. Designed for year round use in all 2-cycle and 4-cycle gas & diesel engines. Removes water from fuel system. Prevents rust and corrosion is this true?

Its a 2004 Saturn L300 V.6 at first it wouldn’t start, then a day later it would , then about a week or so later it stopped all together, it would roll over but not engage and stay started. We replaced the fuel filter , the old one spilled out lots of junk. it started enough to make a trip then was dead again, rolled over but didn’t engage and go. So this time thinking its the Fuel Pump , we bleed the lines to make sure on the fuel filter that no air was in it, and tried to start it again and the fuel pump spit out gas, so not sure if its the pump now, and were back to the same conclusion on something ( maybe water) being put in my gas tank, i only have about a 1/4 tank of gas in the car right now, didn’t want to put in more until i know i won’t have to drop the tank down to have it cleaned or pump changed if that’s its again, its started twice since we bleed the filter, but now I have a “service engine light” on, anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks for the help, and if you need more info I’ll gladly pass more along.
Going to try dry gas today i was given that solution earlier today but was curious to water others thought as well, since im not positive stuff has been added to my tank, but my cars have been sabotaged already so i wouldn’t put it past them, plus i did buy a locking gas cap just in case also.

I had a company that makes and install the kits to produce HHO gas install a system on my 2006 Honda Civic. The system is making plenty of hydrogen. I am not getting any gas mileage increase and I really think it is because the computer or sensors are not allowing it to be used properly. So, I was wondering if anyone may have any knowledge on how to bypass the necessary sensors to allow my car to get its improved gas mileage.

Here’s an interesting chemistry question…
When using hydrogen in an internal combustion engine, it has a tendency to pre-ignite due to a hot intake valve, and although there are things that can be done to the engine itself to fix that, such as ceramic coating the valves or adding sodium filled valves, I was wondering what could be added to the hydrogen gas itself to counteract the pre-ignition tendency? Possibly another gas mixed in? Would an alcohol spray have any effect if mixed in with it like it does with gasoline?
