How can i get rust out of the gas tank of my motorcycle? Its a 1980 motorcycle. water got in the tank?

The previous owner let water get in the tank and there are rust spots in there and I now have a fuel filter on it but the imperfection is bothering me so i want to fix it somehow. Its a tank of a 1980 yamaha xs 400.
