How many p.s.i. do vehicle fuel pumps generate?

Do gasoline and diesel, car and truck fuel pumps generate the same pressures?

I am looking for a small and cheap float valve to control household water pressure. A toilet float valve is much too large. I’m wondering if I could use a carburetor float valve.

If you have another suggestion, I would appreciate it.

No. Automotive fuel pumps do not generate the same
pressures. It all depends upon the auto manufacturer
as to the system used for their fuel delivery. Pump
pressures can run anywhere from 3 pounds to about
50 pounds, or more. Also, they are not designed for
the use that you mention. Neither the mechanical,
nor the electric would be any good for what you intend.

You don’t mention the problem you are having with
your water system, so your best bet is to go to a
plumbing supply company to ask about this.
Water pressure in the public water utility can be
controlled by pipe size in some cases. It just all
depends upon your particular circumstances. There
are a number of ways that can be used.

Float valves do not control water pressure, but
water intake. Whatever pressure is on a line will
still be present when going through a float valve.
If your problem is either too high, or too low you
might require the use of a special pump in line.
