You should have removed the affected fuel and replaced it with fuel that was not mixed with water. If the amount was minimal the water would have diluted the fuel and most likely not contributed to any detrimental problems…but you never know until you take a look inside.

The filter wouldn’t catch any water because the filter is a particulate filter, only able to filter particles (so sand, metal, etc…) but a good preventative step none the less. White smoke is usually a sign of burning oil…but could be caused by moisture too.

A good item for boats is Seafoam, or you can always use Heet, however Heet is more for removing water from the gas tank, so either one will work, but I recommend Seafoam, it does it all. I also use it in all my small engines, Lawnmowers/Weedwackers Etc Both of those are water dryers and removers. Quicksilver sells a Fuel Dryer as well.

And sorry to the other answer but White smoke means Condensation/Water, and Blue/White smoke means oil burning along with a leak in your cooling usually. Just Blue is Oil Buring.

there’s really only one thing to do. drain the tank and get some fresh fuel in there.
