I am guessing you are trying to say you got a bad tank of gas. Yes they should pay. Talk to the mechanic and see if he will write you a letter stating what was wrong. Save your recepit to prove you used that gas station. If you don’t have proof in writing, you have no case.

I’m sorry, I just don’t see how $5 worrth of water has anything to do with a fuel pump.

WATER IN THE FUEL TANK…YOU ARE THE FOOL THAT PUT IT THERE…NOT THE FUEL STATION…. OUT OF THOUSANDS AND THOUSANS OF GALLONS OF GAS SOLD THEY GAVE YOU WATER??? NOT HARDLY!!!. JUST THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE SAYING…SUE THE MECHANIC FOR BLAMING SOMEONE ELSE FOR A TYPICAL MECHANICAL FAILURE…QUIT BELLYACHING AND MOVE ON.
YOU PEOPLE HAVE ALWAYS GOTTA BLAME SOMEONE ELSE NO MATER WHAT..DUH!!!

Of course they should pay for it, unless they had “water” marked on the gas pump! You bought the gas on good faith. The station should take care of all your expenses. If they refuse, keep all your receipts, a sample of the water (if possible) and a letter from the shop that repairs the vehicle. Then take them to small claims court. I can’t believe someone would tell you “you filled your tank, it’s your responsibility”. If you bought a gallon of milk and the jug was full of liquid detergent, would that be your fault too? I think not.
