Could this engine work for my 1966 Lincoln Continental?

This guy has a Ford 460 Long block and would like to sell me his engines. Would it fit my 66 Continental which has a 462ci V8 engine in it? Its too early to ask my mechanic so hopefully I can run accross one here.

Let me know if it can. Here’s the specs

Complete rebuilt ford 460 1)block hot tanked, magna fluxed 2)block bored .30 over, honed w/deck plates sunn 3)new brass freeze plugs 4)new sealed power bearings 5)reconditioned rods 6)decked block, line honed mains. 7)reman heads decked triple angle valve job comes with edelbrock 750 carb. Weiand aluminum intake HEI dist built to run on ford, new water pump, fuel pump, all pulleys and brackets even edelbrock air filter, exhaust manifolds and a engine swap kit to fit this 460 into a foxbody chassis.

it should work hopefully lines up with the transmission if it doesnt your going to replace that trans for the one that will fit it. if the motor doesnt line up on the motor mounts you can rig it where it will.

Your 462 is a MEL engine and the 460 is a 385 series, so I don’t think it will bolt in unless you use the C6 tranny that went to the 460 and make motor mounts and drive-shaft and some other fab work : (

2 completely different engines, you would need different engine mounts and trans mounts. I would check with a Lincoln parts house to see if there is a conversion kit like there is for the 60 to 64 Galaxies. The 460 is a great motor with enough HP to haul that big old boat around, the 429 & 460 were standard equipment in the 69 on up Lincolns.

Shouldn’t be a problem at all the mounts should match up. Header room should have the clearance. You will want to match up tranny and engine with both out of car though.Since you said mechanic i assume you will be having work done. This shouldnt be a problem then.

Is thier anyone who Realy knows if a 460 can fit or not ???…without to manny mods .. ? Can’t we figure it out … I want to make my 66 to scream .,.. With real hp .. IS THIER ANY … High perfomance parts out ,for an org 462 motor, headers vale cover ,alum heads,intake mana , rockers , cams …,,?? This car is pretty f***king cool , would be more enjoyable with loud sound & speed…,
