Can anyone help me with fuel system treatments?

I was having some trouble with my car recently, and someone told me that i had “bad gas”. I’m assuming that gasoline is like water or juice for cars, and anytime i get something that tastes bad, I add sugar. My friend assured me that it was a good idea, so should i add a cup of sugar straight to the tank….? or do i need to mix it thouroughly in a can first?

Never put anything non petroleum into your tank. You can buy a fuel stabilizer instead. This is available at most auto parts stores.

If you would like to buy a new engine, then add sugar. STP gas treatment works well.

This is a joke, right? But if you really did add sugar to your gas, be ready to replace the fuel filter as sugar will not dissolve in the gasoline and will not go pass the filter. Once the filter is plugged your car most likely will not run at all.

Mix it in a can. Make sure it dissolves well first, though, otherwise it will never destroy your engine. :)

You should add cream and then put a cork in your tailpipe. Wait three days before removing cork.

If your friend suggested sugar, you may want to take another look at your friendship. Sugar will not only not work, but it will completely destroy your engine and fuel system. Bad gas usually refers to gas that has an excess of water in it due to condensation in the gas station tanks. The remedy is to add a gas additive that is alcohol which mixes the gas and water so it can be burned These products are readily available at your local auto parts store.
DO NOT add rubbing alcohol!!!!!!

Sugar will permanently louse up your entire fuel system who ever told you this is playing a nasty trick on you!

The very best additive in the market today is: 3M Complete Fuel System Cleaner— bar none. It cleans the throttle body, fuel injection nozzles, intake manifold, valves and most importantly cleans carbon from combustion chambers. One 16 oz. bottle added to a near empty gas tank than add 12-14 gallons of fuel does a great job. Plan on using it when you have a long high speed trip to take. The longer the better.
You can find this product at any NAPA or Carquest auto parts store. It’s a very strong solvent. This product works better than Sea Foam or Chevron fuel injector cleaner

if you want to seize up your car go ahead add the sugar. But if you want to make your car better add some fuel stabilizer by lucas oil co. Or some fuel additive found at your local auto parts store, it may help it may not. You will probably just have to use up the gas you have and get some different kind.

The funny thing is that sugar is about as bad as any fuel system cleaner. All that crap is just that crap. you shouldn’t put anything except gasoline in your fuel lines. I don’t care how many people tell you that this product works or that one. It’ s all in there heads. Any honest mechanic will tell you that those products will do more harm than good.
