96′ Mercury 40hp 4cyl oil injected outbourd releasing excess fuel into water.?

I did replace float bowl gaskets that were leaking. Motor runs and starts great, but I notice after starting and while ideling and trolling fuel / oil is released into water. Would this be a carbureator issues ? Or could it be rings/pistons, the motor does not seem to smoke to much. I first noticed fuel leaking from motor when I tilted it up and that was when I noticed the float bowl gaskets were bad. So I replaced them and things seemed ok for a while, but then the fuel started coming out of prop/ exhuast from what I can tell. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

The fuel mixture might be too rich. Try adjusting it to a slightly leaner mixture.

A little discharge is normal, but excessive discharge is a sign of bigger problems. Possibly a needle and seat?

Well, my engine is very similar to yours but my problem was just a bit different, I was getting fuel in the water but it was leaking, not coming from the exhaust, so this may not be of much value to you.

My 4 cyl Mariner was doing this recently, i was getting fuel leaking from two places.
One was an almost invisible crack in on the fuel fitting on the end of the line where it connects to the motor.
The other was the fuel line that goes from the fuel pump to the carbs.
These were simple repairs but not easy to find.

a small amount of leakage is normal. check your fuel fittings at your carbs and fuel pump also at the fitting where your fuel is first introduced to the motor.
Recheck the bolts on bottom of carbs after awhile they will need to be tightened even though you just replaced your gaskets check them again.
