I’ve had it since I was 15 which was the year 2000. It only had 300 miles on it when I bought it for $5,000. Now it has 178,000 miles, I’ve replaced the radiator, water pump, alternator, fuel pump and I think that’s it. I love everything about it but it broke down recently, from what I can figure the heads are cracked and I believe something is wrong with one of my CV joints. I lived out in the middle of nowhere so I used it kind of like a truck, parents didn’t think a truck was right for a girl even though I paid for it. To get a new car would take me a while since I just started my new job and I have to pay college tuition and then xmas is just around the corner. Please give me any advice such as estimate parts pricing, what I should do if I can possibly sell it or trade it and if getting a new car now would be better in the long run. Thanks in advance.
So far the answers are great. Sorry I forgot all about the other details, it has a 2.4L engine, V6, automatic and I do live in the city now, but I occasionally visit my parents and anything can happen when I’m there. The appearance of the car is actually really well, I have one smooth dent that I can probably pop out, other than that just a few small scratches here and there. I have a friend that can help me put it together and has a relative that is a very experienced mechanic just kind of hard to understand and to get a hold.

My 1983 Mercruiser 470 started to break up while on cruising rpm. Now she is not getting full RPM, I’m getting 3500 and then for short spurts, she goes up over 4000, but back to 3500 to 3800 RPMs. On the starts out of the hole, she pops out of the carb and sometimes stalls out. Also, I have found that when I punch it from idle, there is a hesitation before the engine responds with either the lean pop or acceleration. I have changed the point and condenser, changed the fuel filter and even add a Racor 10 micro Fuel Filer / Water Separator…but I still have this issue.

I’d REALLY appreciate some insight to a problem Ive been having with a car I just bought. Its a 1993 Caddy STS with a Northstar 4.6 V8. I bought the car yesterday (For a steal I thought 1500!) it has 99K original miles and excellent service records.
However, When I bought the car it was about 85 degrees outside. So, when I tested the heat in the car (very important when buying any used car) just room temp air blew out. The owners neighbor (who was in charge of handling sales while he was on vacation) said it was probably not blowing out “hot heat” because of the climate control system.
So, this morning it was around 70 here and i put the car inside temp to 90 degrees. Still NO HEAT.
Also, nothings coming from the vents just blowing from the dash and doors onto side windows.
Here is part 2….. the car is running around 220-245 when driving down the highway according to the computer. Is this normal? Because when I put the A/C on (which does work well) It will cause the computer to say “Engine Hot” and it turns the a/c compressor off. I turn off the a/c and it goes back down to the 230-40ish range and drives fine. There are no error messages other than a suspention message which I believe may be a bad strut on the passengers side. There is No white smoke from exaust. No water or gas in oil. No sign of gas in coolant etc.. the motor is very quiet and purrs.
Ugh…..Im so upset! My last car didnt have heat ALL winter and I swore I would never buy a car that didnt!!!!! Me and the kids FROZE! I finally got rid of that other pc o crap from last winter (that at least the a/c worked in summer) Now I cant even use the A/C in this car in fear I will overheat the engine. No Heat. Cant use A/C. And Im all out of Money!! I would really, really appreciate anyones help.
when i said running around 230-240 on the highway I meant the coolant temp…lol not speed…just thought Id mention that!

I have been doing maintenance on my motorcycle for years. I’m used to the $2-5 inline fuel filters, which I also had on my first couple cars. But now I’m trying to diagnose a misfire issue on my Honda Civic (97 EX) and the fuel filter is the next thing to check. I was surprised to see that even the cheapest available that are specified for this application are $20. Most brands are closer to $50. What in the world is this filter doing that a $5 filter doesn’t? Can’t be the fuel flow because I’ve seen plenty of gas hog V8s that use simple inline filters, while my gas-sipping Civic needs something special. I also wouldn’t think the filtration is that much different. I mean, it’s fuel, not oil or drinking water. There’s a prefilter in the fuel tank for the really ugly crap, then this one for the fine stuff.

Hello I own a 95 mustang with a 347. Im wanting to know how much it will cost to get all of this fixed including labor. Just a good est.
Problems are: Rocker nuts are bad and need adjusted, transmission needs bearing retainer installed, have an oil leak somewhere that needs to be found and fixed, there is water overflowing out of my overflow.. could be thermastat, head gasket or water pump. Gas tank leaks when i fill it up and the gas hand dont work. Okay guys there it is thanks for your time
Sorry about the spelling.. was in a bit of a hurry. But the bearing retainer is 50 bucks. I just dont want to drop the tranny to install. The nuts go bad after they have let off once, new set cost around 30 bucks. But the engine leaking coolant through the overflow really worries me.

I’m gonna trade or sell. I have replaced radiator, fuel pump, water pump, transmission, tires, and ecm in less than ayear. Has 165000 miles. AC just went out. So, I need ac and gas gage fixed. What is the best thing to do? Other than this it’s like new because I have replaced all of the parts. My dad is offering to help me pay for a new one so I am going to take him up on it. I have 4 young children and I guess he’s worried about us in the suv. Please help. also the flasher button all of a sudden won’t work. Anything on this for little dumb girl with no money.
I replaced the fuel pump. What is a gas sender? Could it be a fuse? And not only do I have 2 sets of twins 9 year olds and 8 year olds, I drive horribly and that GMC has been great. I just don’t want that heavy of a vehicle anymore and it’s difficult to park most of the time. I would keep it but like I said my father is offering to get me a new vehicle so I want this one to be good for the person who ends up with it.

it sat in freshwater completely submerged for 12 hours. i replaced the distibutor cap and the starter and solenoid. drained all oils twice. removed all gas and water from gas tank and put more gas in it. the engine cranks but it won’t start. is it the computer that needs to be fixed or what? all other electrical is fried, no windows or anything works. i cleaned the upholstery and it’s fine. i just want to get it running and go from there. and it’s getting gas to the engine. the spark plugs are not igniting.
i also took apart the throttle body and vacuumed out all of the water.
