2000 Mercury Mariner 15HP 2Stroke Outboard Questions.?

I just got a this nice little motor. It starts up like a crisp new match however, I’m noticing that it’s not peeing water as hard as its supposed to. Troubleshooting made: 1) I unscrewed the bottom breather by the prop and inspected it for debris, it was clean. 2) I blew some air in it and felt the air coming out of the pee hose (for lack of a better word). 3) I took off the thermostat and fired it up, and it started pouring water strong again. Is the thermostat something that has to be changed periodically as regular maintenance, it looked OK no visible damage, corrosion or mildew on it, should i take the thermostat off every-time i rinse out the engine and clean it separately?

Part 2 Problem: (sorry) Same boat different issue, i was out on the bay and the motor started stalling on me a few times. It wouldn’t turn on right away i had to wait a few minutes and then turn it again. When it did it the 3rd time i decided to turned back and headed back home to inspect the situation, (didn’t want to get stranded out there). I turns out that the hose that connects the Fuel tank to the motor was completely filled with yellowish crystal like materials, i cut both ends off and put the air compressor to it. TONS of this stuff started coming out, i threw out this NEW gasoline and went to the hardware store and got some hose clamps to put the connectors back on the hose. I checked the Fuel Filter and it too had these little suckers in them. What is this and why is it there? Could it have been Bad Gasoline? I’m prob not supposed to ask 2 questions in one but same motor!

Thanks A Lot guys, sorry for all these dumb questions.
I just think i need to have a nice strong healthy motor when i’m out in the water.

Thermostat is a possibility but probably needs a new impeller on the water pump. Every 100 hrs or 2 years. On your second problem, it almost sounds like someone put sugar in your tank. Sugar will not dissolve in gas and clogs up everything. Old gas can leave a hard lime like deposit also.
