2000 Chevy Blazer engine problems?

I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer (I believe it’s an LT if it makes a difference) that started to shake sometimes when I stop. Also, when you first turn it on and drive it, it does not want to shift or go faster for the first 5 minutes or so that it is on the road. At first we thought it had bad gas in it or that there was water in the gas tank, however it has gotten worse over the past month and we have tried different things with the gas (gas cleaner, midgrade/premium gas). Anyone have any ideas?

I used to have the exact same problem. You obviously dont have a subscription to Consumer Reports. Blazers are one of the most problematic trucks in the world, in my opinion anyways. I’ve never heard anyone talk about their Blazer without hearing about its problems. It is most likely the EGR valve. It recirculates exhaust gas back into the intake system. If this is plugged. The engine is basically choking. Sell your truck or spend eventually you’ll start spending thousands of dollars a year on repair. Thats what happened to me. They also have electrical problems. Their page on the consumer reports is filled with half and full black circles, which means very poor.

It is the transmission, It is refered to as morning sickness ( the first 5 minute thing you stated). That is obviously your transmission, not engine. Make sure you transmission has proper levels, and perhaps put in thicker oil.
Does it shake at idle? I did not follow what you stated, about sometimes when you stopped, do you mean completly stopped or stopping? If it is problemattic at idle then your engine will also need some tunning up; maybe spark plugs & wires, maybe adjust timming, maybe something else. Take it to a mechanic if it is while you idle, this could be a project for a weekend warrior but they must have basic car knowledge.
