1998 Acura 2.3 CL…Check Engine Light on..Need Help Bad!!!?

Hey guys whats going on..Well I got my car about 2 weeks ago…Everything was good until the other day..I started my car up leaving from work and it started up funny…I let it warm up for about 10-15 minutes and decided to take off…I was going up the hill and the check engine lights start blinking and it seems like the car is stuttering a little..It drives fine when going straight but when up hills it begins to stutter..So I drive and pull over and turn the car off for like a minute and then turn it back on and the check engine light stays lit..So I went to the dealership and they checked it for me and I think he said it was misfire in 1 of cylinders…He said it could have been due to water in the gas and that resulted in a misfire…He cleaned out the cylinder and the check engine light is off..It seemed fine driving home so I hope everything is good..So today again starting my car up from work I notice it starts the same way as before..Check engline light comes again..
It stutters a little bit more than it was before and now it stutters it a little bit when driving straight and up hills..I have got new gas since the 1st time at a different gas station..It was rainy and has been wet on both days..What could be causing this..I am really frustrated and scared is something wrong with my car..I am not going to drive it to the dealership again because they are like 40 miles away so I don’t know what to do..Please somebody help and let me know what this could be..
Yes it was from a good dealership..It had about 94k on the car..2 owners with no accidents or anything..The mechanic told me to bring it to him but its like 30-40 miles away and I don’t know if I’m hurting the car by driving it.
Just got it tuned up and fixed..$200 spent including labor..4 platinum plugs,1 ign rotor,1 cap, and 1 wire…I hope that was the cause of this..We will see when it rains again..Pray for me..

Take it to a mechanic – they can diagnose it better than anyone on this site. A mechanic has the necessary tools and diagnostic computer equipment to tell you exactly what’s wrong with it – try an acura dealership. They should be able to diagnose the problem and tell you whats wrong without actually doing any work on it without your approval first.

thats not good dude, sounds like a head gasket leaking water in to the engine compartment, very costly to put it in. the gasket is about $80 but the labor can be as much as $2000 and take over a week. I hope that is NOT what it is, good luck!

told u once ill tell u again… tune it… gas is not the problem…95% of problems like that are electrical…ignision… again i say…how do you “clean out a cylinder”? was it full of gas or water? if so the injectors r bad or u have blown head/head gasget..

Try using good gas, maybe higher octane than regular and make sure you tighten the gas cap (at least 3 clicks after you hit the stop). It will take a few days for the “Check Engine Light” to reset, the computer will check certain systems during your drive and if it gets good reading after 3 or 4 checks it will reset the light automatically.

If the higher octane gas doesn’t cure the problem you may want to have a look at the plugs, plug wires, etc. Looking for fouled plugs.
If the misfire continues it could indicate a more serious problem.
Had a misfire in my 2000 Maxima from water ingestion (flooded road, only about foot deep) that resulted in engine replacement.
I also have an Acura and they’re pretty durable cars so for now I would think it’s something minor.

Another thing, did you purchase the car from a reputable Acura dealer, did you get a warranty? Did you have it checked by a third party? Did it have resonable mileage? Did
you get a carfax report to make sure it wasn’t previously damaged,etc.

get the CEL read again, if its still a misfire, reaplace the plugs and wires with decend ones, and then start over, go drive it for another few minutes, if the CEL stays on and its still a misfire, then you could have a problem with some of the rings on the piston because if they cant properly compress the gas to be ignted then youre going to have a misfire, but most of the time its going to be your spark plugs…so, have the engine read again, then replace the plug going to that specific cylinder, then check it agian, if that doesnt do it, replace the plug wire for that particular cyl. then if it still isnt working take it to a honda certified mechanic, or take it back to where you bought it because there should be some sort of used lemon law that you could fall back on…and thats only if the problem is actually engine related, so good luck, ad hope everything goes well

i will say take it back to your dealer or to your mechanic to tune it up and see what the problem is I’m gasket and stop using the gas that you are using if it has water on it or if you wash your engine during a car was try not to watch the engine for one month and see the result.
